    Movie was great and with the studio time in mind it gave a new experience where you recognize certain themes. that's a new way for me to enjoy a movie...

    Say what you want about the negative effects of the internet, but getting a personal behind the scenes look at a major composer making music for a major motion picture FOR FREE is just mind blowing! We're so lucky! 🤩

    "Raising The Sword" is such a magnifiscent track. I had chills during the movie sequence. Love how you turned a sad theme into an heroic one. (With a sinister detour *wink*) but that finale crescendo is so powerful and epic!

  • @deadstar44

    That ostinato sounds like some John Williams intro. Really like how it underscored the scene when Alita recovers the Berserker and emerges back on the shore like she's born again. Really powerful theme.

  • @schwarzeseis4031

    Something funny I noticed: The 1st theme discussed reminded me of a traditional German christmas song we sing in (protestant) christmas-service all over Germany. "Oh, lasset uns anbeten" ("Let us all revere") . Like: It seems to lead directly in there. I am sure this is coincidence (for a given value of "random"), but a very nice one.

    I absolutely love these videos but for me personally I want to see more of the composition/orchestration side of things. After you wrote that melody, how did you come up with the harmony? How did you decide on what notes each instrument would get? You always have lots of divisi, and your arrangements always look so dense and complex, even one like this that you said is “simple”, and is really like to know how you go to the point of the final arrangement in order of how you wrote and then orchestrated each part.

      Greedo Kenobi exactly! I appreciate all that he does for us, but I really want more in depth analysis of the more “musical” side of things and how he comes up with everything and why it works the way it does. I feel like that’s something you can never get enough of

Amazing Work by the way!

  • @RichardBoyer
    @RichardBoyer 5 років тому

    It would be essential to clarify THEME and MOTIF in your composition This explanation is not very clear .... A theme is a musical phrase that is important to the piece of music. Many pieces have one or two themes that are then developed. ... A motif was simply a smaller phrase that could be part of a theme. In the Romantic era, Wagner lifted the motif to be the main structuring element of his music.
