Prices are just a little bit out of touch? Uhh you think? They are WAYYYYYY out of touch. It's not just the price that's killing me, it's the interest rate too.
New car market (dealers/manufacturers) still hanging on to the idea of higher margins made during the pandemic period. They just don’t want to give it up that extra 5-10%. I get the feeling they are also waiting on interest rates to go down a little to spur some buying.
They refuse to lower prices hoping that one sucker will walk in and over pay. Unfortunately the old saying a sucker born every minute is true. They obviously have enough dumb people that overpay to keep their hopes up the next one is about to walk in.
Higher prices + steep depreciation + higher interest rates makes buying a car (used or new) stupid in this economy. Fix what you have and wait for market to crash and rates fall. Car market needs to crash to fix the greed.
I want to buy a Corolla cross for my daughter that starts college next year and I have seen the 2023 models with 5k to 8k miles for the same price as a brand new 2024 those dealers are out of their mind 😮
5-10%, I would say 20-30% at least. My wife and I both bought new cars in 2021 and when looking to get a new Honda pilot of same trim in 2024/25 model the price is 10-15k more. My Toyota Tacoma is a 2021 and I paid 37k out the door for a fully loaded TRD off-road long bed double cab with navigation and some extra options. They have been offering me 38k trade in on it recently but there is no way I’m paying 55k plus for a new TRD off-road Tacoma, I will drive this one until it’s old and junk
Bad companies should be allowed to fail, even when considered "To big to Fail". If GM & Chrysler were allowed to fail without resurrecting them through Gov. Loans we would have other car companies producing the vehicles that the market wants, instead of what the gov. wants. The Gov. Bailouts killed any small car companies that would have came out of the GM/Chrysler demise back in 08. Our Gov. continues to "Be for us".
It is not just the manufacturers that are stupid crazy with pricing, the dealers are as well. My local Toyota dealer in Bend Oregon is still playing the markup over MSRP on vehicles. I personally would very much like to see a direct model such as what Tesla does.
If you bought a new car in the past couple years or now. You 100% got ripped off, even if you think you got a “deal” the outrageous MSRP’s will tell you otherwise.

And the insurance premium as well!!!
yes to many luxury trims in the car model ...example Toyota tundra ,sr, sr5 , limited , platinum , 1794, TRD PRO, 1794 limited , capstone
Looks like YOU can't handle the truth either....cars, trucks, etc. are TOO expensive!!!
