As an orthopedic physical therapist for almost 40 years, as well as a certified ergnomic evaluation specialist, I have to say this is one of the best advancements I've seen in wood splitters. I have spent decades assisting engineers in production settings create safer and more ergonomic environments for similar processing machines. The science behind knee control versus foot is very strong. The fact that the operator is standing and has full weight bearing through their leg, delays foot movement off of a treadle during an emergency. This is far safer.
@@thebradleysoncatbirdhill6849 - knee switch is money. The loader in an M1 tank uses a knee switch to open the armored doors where the ammunition is stored. The Army figured out that bit of ergonomics over 40 years ago.
Love it! Nice work, Marco. When I built my 1165v knee-control, it was because I have a bad foot. Necessity is the mother of invention. You guys are great. Keep up the good work!
Thanks guys for listening to the folks out there and adding the lip on the log lifter. Though open minded I only used foot controls and thought that was the only option for a log splitter. Boy was I I know there are a lot of non believers out there but the knee control is equal to or better than a foot control. Appreciate the awesome design on the 1165V. 👍TCT
@@SplitFireSalesInc I can totally see why. Makes a lot of sense from a safety aspect. Never really thought of tensing up and stepping on the foot pedal. Really appreciate you thinking it through and making us aware
@@bradjenkins932 what are you implying? Do you think that it will cause fatigue or something? If so, could I suggest that if you are going to run this machine for 6 hrs a day daily, you might be looking at the wrong machine. It all depends on what someone needs are. I think the price point, footprint, portability and design are all wins for the market this machine is geared for.
👏🙌👏🙌👏🙌👏🙌 Great job on the lip on the lift. And the knee control on this is amazing. I will be doing a video soon on the difference between a foot control vs the knee control. I’m still loving mine.
I received mu 1165V with the knee control about 3 weeks ago. Absolutely as advertised. Dylan and company were fantastic to work with. This is the most ergonomic and fastest splitter I have owned. I wouldn’t change a thing! Thank you Dylan and Splitfire!
We're so glad to hear that you're loving your 1165V! Your satisfaction is our top priority. Thanks for the kind words about Dylan and the team. We appreciate your business!
What a great machine, saw it in action at Paul Bunyan and I gotta say this is the best pro home user machine in my opinion. I will be ordering one once the lead times come down.
That machine is a wee beaut! Fast, simple and so easy to shift around. Knee operation is something I've used on a horizontal machine years ago,and as a "one man band" it was a winner. With freeing up both hands it made splitting much safer. The 1165 vs would be ideal for even moderate sized firewood operations. And as a old fella (74) with a shot back that working height and log lifter...... Great stuff! Cheers from HB NZ
You guys have done really well. Amazing to see how this machine has changed over time from the original 1165. The vertical machine is far superior, but the 1165 is still a handy fun splitter to have around. Take care, Ben.
Dont think you don't need a lip on the tables if you get the 1165v Electric, because vibration is not an issue! Thanks for sending me the knee controller asap Split-Fire Team😎! Can't wait to try it out!
@@SplitFireSalesInc I have three commercial splitters from different companies…. If the foot peddle is high it does make a big difference. My axis is the most comfortable to run
@@SplitFireSalesInc a little…. The movement needed for the valve is to much for it to make a difference The axis works perfect though I have a couple of your older 1165’s. for kindling and bundle re-splits I think I’d like to try a new one out with knee control
Im sure a lot of people were scratching their heads when we first started to mention the knee control but, we know this video will truly show how easy and safe it is to operate with it. Thank you for the support!
Maybe adding some dense rubber pads between the engine and the frame would help greatly with the vibration and wood falling off the table. Plan on ordering this splitter once the powder coating is an option 👍
Can you also add a lip on the flip up side work spaces shelves also so material isn't vibrating off of the work space? I like the knee control. It looks like it makes more sense to me than the foot control. Good job coming up with an even better solution.
Now the real question is how you can make such a great looking and operating machine for such a low price. Really good deal here. It's on the shopping list. I love the caster handle that I've seen in some of these videos. Think mobility is a major benefit.
We have a great set of people that help us find the best possible resources at an excellent price so that we can continue to create our products and pass along the savings to the customer.

I will check out your site and build one to compare... I do like your knee control options... Thanks for sharing there eh!

Well you guys deserve it! I’ve had my 4213 for a couple of months and have split some of the nastiest 40” rounds as well as the normal stuff and it’s a FANTASTIC splitter!
I hate to say it but as a medical professional, the knee action is not good, the lateral movement is not natural. Second your theory is in question of the foot pedal - they have foot pedals on a vehicle, if in an emergency the natural reaction is to take foot off pedal not apply to the pedal.
More studies show that people’s natural reaction and tendency is to plant down and stiffen up and brace themselves. This is why there has been cases of panic where the driver hits the gas not the brakes. As a medical professional you must have seen such incidents happen.
I like the lip on the lift table it should keep the wood 🪵 on the table I have one on order hope it comes with it 😀 good stuff you listen to your customers
