Buckethead's in an whole other galaxy as far as technical ability. there are only a few others that are on that level, and that's guys like Pettruci, Gilbert, Impeliterri, Batio, etc...
Also btw idk if you noticed but he's playing over the original song. You can hear the original recording of the solo along with his playing on top of it and he's actually playing kinda sloppy in parts

I think they all wanted their own signature to be on it somwhere rather that simply reproduce the solo from the record. But Slash being too proud to do any tapping was very weak.

My friend/old bandmate played with Buckethead very early on, and he said that he spent hours each day just practicing scales and exercises because he wanted to be the fastest guitarist ever. I think he succeeded!
Buckethead sound like he was just practicing.... wylde had the best imitation, Slash the best remaking in his own style. The last guy had the cleanest sounding....

Buckethead was the most faithful, which isn't surprising at all. For how unorthodox he is, the one thing he isn't is a glory seeker, and you know he grew up playing those Randy licks, so I'm sure the respect level is much higher for him.
I was going to bash Slash for that solo until I read the comments and remember he's in his own league. They all play great but only one is known by just anybody you'd ask. Of course Slash would do his own thing... Props to him and all of them legendary guitarists!!!
I remember seeing an interview with Ozzy about Buckethead and that Ozzy was going to hire him on the condition he removed the bucket and of course Buckethead denied. Ozzy said he was hell of a guiter player but he was too weird 😂😂😂.
They all nailed it really well, Slash did what Slash does and it is okay, it is Slash playing after all, the guy is almost a trademark and a synonym to pentatônics, but saying he did it ugly is a bit of an overstatement

Zakk killed it, I’ve heard him play it live he does very well. Buckethead is a beast of course. Could have been a technological issue or something else but the first measure sounded off, maybe tech though, I could be very wrong. Still amazing though. Slash has a different approach to guitar compared to any of these guys. Also could have got nervous or didn’t practice enough, it does happen. Probably changed his strings right before going on, could explain the tuning issue. Never heard of Bumblefoot but I really liked his rendition.

Slash impro, but yeah if you want to improvise make sure its tasty but its not, he is just noodling.
