I was laid-off *also* on March 17th (mass-layoff in the US), and my electric was due to be shut off on March 20th but because of the virus & the mass-layoffs all over the country, AEP (electric) is keeping service on until at least April 4th, perhaps longer. Hopefully wherever you live, the utility companies there are doing the same as ours are.

Courts are closed in order to get evicted you have to go to court. In some places sheriffs have to give you a summons. I don't know any officer that is going to willingly put their life on the line for a non emergency matter. Handing someone a letter is not worth contracting a virus. So if the landlord is being nasty let them take you to court. Which most won't do because it costs money and it's a lengthy process. Hopefully things don't have to go that far and they will work something out with you.

There's no way it will hit in 3 weeks especially when there are so many people involved and workers aren't even there to process the payments because the offices are closed. All government offices in Louisville has been closed for over a week. I can't see them processing millions in weeks. Especially when the people on retirement and ssi who don't pay taxes and don't have w2's have to be looked at to see how much they qualify for, AND have to track down their banking and billing information to even find out where to send the check. Now I work all the time, can't buy a day off and hope I don't get sick all while my job slowly kills me. I would love to have three or four months off. I would love to rest and take care of yourself. At one point in time gold was what money was based on. Now money is worth only what the government that prints it says it's worth. When they print more and more of it then it's value is less and less. That is inflation.

Some one told you wrong. In California, disability can pay for six months & it pays everyday. Unemployment based on highest three mos. avg. After exhausting CA Disability, you can apply for SSDI.

According to Grassley, the Republican from Iowa, if you have an SSN and no one claims you as a dependent you're eligible for a check. So even the homeless should qualify. But there are going to be quite a few people the have no information on anyway. The references to 2018 and 2019 tax returns was where they would get addresses to send checks. Which means people who were victims of identity theft and had their 2018 or 2019 refund stolen may get screwed again.
