One of the best Jack Benny skits. Priceless! It's a parody of the classic 1946 film noir "The Killers" (based on the famous Ernest Hemingway short story). Thanx for uploading for us to enjoy!
Because most writers today are too lazy and/or don't have the imagination and/or creativity. Most of them think all they have to do to get a laugh is throw in some profanity or vulgar sexual humor.
For those of you too young to watch Dan Duryea in his many roles, there is sort of an inside joke with this skit. Duryea was known for play scumbag villains who usually slaps women (and some guys, too)
Jack did this sketch repeatedly on his radio show and, finally, on television. The first time the guest star was Richard Widmark, the second time it was Edward G, Robinson, This was the third.
U all have to watch the Christmas one where he buys an expensive watch for a present,,then finds a cheaper present makes the poor guy wrap and rewrap present over an d over till he goes crazy,,so funnny,,
This one just didn't go over well. There wasn't enough levity to balance out the more serious tone. It was quite different from his other shows and not in a good way.
Why did you waste your time watching it then, a true Jack Benny fan appreciates all his work, he was the master, I have every piece of his work from 1932 to the end of his working carrier, his worst is better than any of the crap put out today bar none>
I get what you mean. I like JB so much of course I watched it all the way through, and was rewarded by seeing him break up a few times---but this wasn't a favorite of his shows. He's always good himself, though.
Jack did the "Lunch Counter Murder" sketch FOUR TIMES- twice on radio, featuring Edward G. Robinson [November 1946] and Richard Widmark [November 1950]; and twice on television {the first was a "live" episode with George Raft, in February 1955 (that can be seen on UA-cam), and this filmed version}.
Dennis is so funny in this, he must have had a delightful time with this character. Terrific sketch/spoof.
Funniest guy on tv because he could laugh at himself. Love this guy since 1956.

Brilliant! Why don't they have programs like this today?

The gag with the barstools going up and down was the best!
This was delightfully funny
Yes, it was.

So true! And off screen he was known for being of the nicest guys in Hollywood. Devoted family man.

I've heard/seen all three and they're all totally hilarious !!
RIP Jack Benny (1894--1974)
Laughed myself silly with this one😂
Thanks...really enjoy this show. Takes me back to when I was a kid and watching him on Sunday nights
@@jamesbrooks354 So true! Brings back some wonderful memories of our Boomer childhoods in the glorious 1950's!
great moments
24:32- "Good night, folks! I'll be seeing you next week for State Farm Insurance."
Fabulousley funny
23:48 Foreshadowing what went down between Chris Rock and Will Smith at the Oscars
Originally telecast on December 4, 1960.
0:11- "Presented by LIPTON TEA! 'The "BRISK" Tea'."
Very good Marlon Brando impression
Who was impersonating Brando ??

Mel Blanc as the dept store salesman who gets driven bonkers was absolutely brilliant in the Christmas Shopping episode. Hilarious.
Again a recurring sketch from his radio series. The first time it was shoelaces.
Were his people from Russia?
Whose people? Dan's? Dennis'? Jack's? Don's? Frank Nelson's?
When Dennis first came out and bowed for the audience his eyes looked so weird. He looked like a doll... So creepy.

I don't agree. It had lots of levity. It didn't have a serious tone from my perspective.
I enjoyed it thoroughly. Dan Duryea was great.
@RockManLP George Carlin did a whole routine on death and dying.
The people laughed thru it all. Talk about serious.
