Wet Felting a "Fairy Fantasy" Blended Canvas Background to Needle Felt Onto

This Wooly Wednesday, we are wet felting a beautiful and inspiring piece of felt fabric that can be used as a background for a sweet needle felted scene. In this tutorial, Marie shows how to use a Carded Art Batt that we previously made as the design layer for the background, but also demonstrates how to layout the same fibers by hand in a similar pattern to achieve similar beautiful effects without a drum carder. This colorful piece features blended hues of pinks, purple, and greens to create striking skies and a playful field of grass for your imagination to run wild in!
This "Fairy Fantasy" background will be used in the future to needle felt a sweet little scene onto. Keep an eye out for our next Wooly Wednesday to see it!

Can't believe my computer was held for ransom ware just prior to Wooly Wednesday! Spent the rest of the day installing a new operating system. Just catching up, now. I really love the colors in this Fantasy Fairy blend and hope nothing goes haywire next week when you're doing the needle felting on it.

Can you use regular felt from craft store as a base or do I need 100% wool prefelt?

Is there an alternative to the bubble wrap? It’s sooo hard to find bubble wrap wide enough for bigger projects without perforations in it. I’m exasperated! LOL
PFM or PFL ...can you make these yourself or is it something one should buy?
When you do the initial check after rubbing with hands, you mention adding fibers to ‘Fix’ the piece….my question is can you also remove some fibers
What is the finished size after felting?
