I love both this and Kate Smith version. This video gives a little more context for the song itself

It certainly still retains it's message, strongly as ever. In the world as it is now, people need hope. Cantor was one of those stars who could inspire us with his humour, vivacity and sense of fun. Pleased to receive your comment, Angel.

yelloworangered ........... Hi. Thank you for your comment. Eddie Cantor was very talented. I, too, have a good biography of him. Interesting reading indeed. There is another clip here with Ethel Merman ... that's very entertaining too.

@@yelloworangered thanks. I just watched "The Eddie Cantor Story" (1953) today. It'd be great to read a biography of him after watching this movie

We didn't get much Eddie Cantor over here in Ireland - I have always been a fan - there is more interest in him now - thanks to Boardwalk Empire

    It’s easy to grin
    When your ship comes in
And you’ve got the stock market beat.
    But the man worthwhile,
Is the man who can smile,
When his shorts aren’t too tight in the seat.

Good clean fun. Unlike the crap we have today. What a shame. Some groups have no class.
