I love this album. 'Put On A Smile' is my favorite. It's nice to see that the young people are enjoying this group. Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars took a gamble and it paid off.
I think they know people ×ant to hear REAL MUSIC, FUN MUSIC, again. and that the market for folks who grew up on this funky vibe would spend the money to see them live!!!
It surprises me how so many ppl say this and “After Last Night” are their favorite, especially the male reviewers. I woulda thought more of the upbeat ones. It’s just nice like that; every track got something to offer. 10/10 album
I grew up in the 70s, and I can say that you guys are the masters of calling the vibe that each song gives, weather it’s the Stylistics. James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, etc..this Album is a masterclass on the 70s experience, in thee sound, and the feeling that it inspires in people, and thank you for being “Soul Professors “, helping to educate those who don’t know what that was all about !! I Love this reaction, and couldn’t have said anything better myself !!

We used to call those flicks ‘blaxploitation’ movies, as opposed to black exploitation. That ‘cosmic ethereal’ quality I feel on Blast Off is a nod to the great Earth Wind & Fire. And they did modulate 3 times at the end. Also the start of Put on a Smile reminds me most of a song called, If Lovin You Is Wrong (I Don’t Wanna Be Right), the way it starts out in. A minor chord sequence for that serious sound. The whole project is a story, with the songs arranged in the order they’re in. They call it the set list of doom! 😆 Cool reaction. I’d say every song on this project was deeply developed..

Bootsy baby. Love the intro, it vibes off Bootsie. The bass throughout this album has that old school flavor with Bootsy influence. I liked Fly As Me, funky. I hear some of I'd Rather Be With You in After Last Night, my 3rd favorite.
