it would have been better if they'd have actually gotten together in the first book and built their emotional intimacy so that in the second when they're forced against each other then we feel the emotional impact. but nope. fail.
The t-shirt is iconic. And as someone who also loves yapping (and hates Powerless), yes. Also: I don't think my mental health can handle a single other use of Ocean Eyes
This book was...something. I'm very sure that Lauren was pressed to finish this sequel because how on earth does she publish the second one so quickly? It's not even well written, there's no plot or even an attempt at one.
Bro I am so happy these books are getting the actual critiques they deserve. I have no idea how these books got popular, acclaimed or given the traditional treatment when so many great authors of merit are being rejected scores of times by literary agents in place for these influencers. None of these books have staying power, its such shortsightedness on behalf of these publishers, and I just feel literature is getting dumbed down as a result. Powerless isn't the only shitty book getting trad pubbed due to tiktok either, Lightlark, Xiran Jay Zhao(though her books are nominally better than this trite). Its demoralizing as a writing seeing these books get published.
@@justinelombardi5697 The thing is, traditional publishers used to be all about picking up books that are good. Now they are only picking books up from people with 10,000 followers or more
it feels like to be a successful writer now you have to have a big social media presence prior to getting published. it’s very demotivating as someone who wants to stay private and has no public social media.
honestly there is nothing better that motivates me to write than knowing people got famous for writing horribly. Like, I know my characters just need to be out in the world...for people to love
real, but then im also scared like if people like this shit, my writing is (somehow??) gonna be too difficult for them yk? literally all they love now is the same book tropes over and over again but my book aint even romance or fantasy?????
I love to hate those books. As a fellow german - we just love to criticise I guess ^^. It is just sad, that those books are published and so many great indie authors struggle... make it make sense.
“The beast never gets the beauty” bro that’s the whole point of beauty and the beast???? Mf just wants to be the fantasy equivalent of “nice guys finish last”
About Calum, yeah everyone who read Reckless is confused too. I know some people are theorizing that maybe Calum also has the power of mind control and he’ll be the villain in the third book, but canonically none of us have any idea right now 🤷♀️
no cause i was so confused when i read that chapter also the angle he's playing cause why would he encourage him to marry her?? the politics in this book dont make any sense 😭😭
no bc she just straight up ripped the "chained together" thing from Dance of Thieves but it sounds like it didn't even happen for any reason fdhfhjdh when obviously in DoT it had a purpose
I actually was so excited to read Reckless since Paedyn killed the king, but I think Lauren Roberts messed up by killing him so early in the series because where is our plot? Our antagonist? I feel like she wants to have her cake and eat too by towing the line on Kitt being a good guy or a bad guy
I volunteer as tribute to read the last book for you, since you did me the favor of reading the first two since I didn't have to. I did read about half of powerless but dnf because I couldn't take it anymore.
I think i would have liked their first kiss to be out of love and passion or if their first kiss was the last kiss they did in the flowers at the end of the book before they get taken away. The whole book was lacking the tension of the first book for me and kinda felt like they were forced together with the chain issue and their constant dagger to the throat got tiring too. I would prefer if they figured out they loved each other sooner. Kits chapters were boring and didn't really improve or impact the story I would have liked to see more thoughts about what he's going through, the part with the Queen was kinda nice to me and would have liked them to talk more about the King maybe helping Kit figure himself out about who he is as a King will he follow his fathers steps or will he decide to rule in his own way and how is that impacting him.
Doesnt she know you can have exposition dialogue, but it should be in a dialogue , anny reason in the world why they would talk about basic knowledge, or even they learned different things and fight about that. Oh her thinking, didnt look like a plague, that does not sound like a natural diease. That could prompt them discussing about whats true before finding that? Forshadowing uuuhg.
They also said that the disease was found by the healers, we truly don’t know what it is like you said but it’s insinuating in the first book that this disease does not truly exist and it’s just a a A scheme that the king made up to kick out all the ordinaries.
I thought the first book was just OK like it wasn’t my favorite because I never thought about it after reading it, but I didn’t hate it. This one I absolutely hated there was no plot, somehow every character became more repetitive
Honestly I was sad when PAEDYN saved Kai doing first kit to be alive but later Kai said thanks and je put her in shackles. PAEDYN was very hurt I cry and really a little hated him for it😢
9:30 Oh my gosh, mentioned! 😁 Yeah I’m really disappointed the person who reviewed Reckless didn’t share where she got this information about Lauren Roberts from, because I don’t want my comment to just be hearsay 😂
Yeah, I saw that Aster announcement. I actually liked Lightlark and am reading Nightbane next. She did come out with a third book announcement. Skyshade. Not sure I like that title name. I just saw she's doing an adult romance. I'm not a romance girl so...I'm definitely not reading it. YA & Adult Fantasy is more it. It's probably going to get a good reception. My small opinions are small. As for this second book Reckless, thank you for reading these so we can get your perspective.
Thank the algorithm for leading me here ☀️I really like your videos, your criticism and your humour. Ganz viel Liebe von einem deutschen Bookhater Fan 🥰
The fact that the book might not be a good book is understandable, and the fact that you did not like it might be understandable, but the fact that she wrote sentences structured absolutely ‘proper’ and didn’t flood her book with a whole bunch of “ands” points at her ability to write complex sentences properly-not dull down her writing capability to make people with less ‘linguistic understanding’ happier. As a writer, she strives to improve peoples knowledge when it comes to reading ‘proper’ sentence structure.
36:21 ….girl mixers????? As in little mix!????? As in mama told me not to waste my life she said spread your wings my little butterfly????????????? Fucking hello????????????????????????

I don't get it why can't people just take criticism as it is .. like this book actually sucks... And criticism is good ... The writer will actually put efforts and not just write fanfiction worthy content and publish it .
Is your channel brand negativity? I’m asking genuinely because from the thumbnails it seems like you hate every book you read. Also, I subscribe to a UA-camr that likes to review bad movies, so I’m not judging I’m just trying to figure out the vibe here since the algorithm suggested this video.
Great review! This was definitely my most anticipated thing happening in my life this week 😂 I really did love Powerless, but Reckless makes me think Fearless will suck too 🫤
After 4th Wing, Lightkark and Powerless got published, I am already waiting for My Immortal to become a full series and netflix adaptation 😂
Not their lips crashing together 😭
Lauren giving herself away as a wattpad girlie LMAO
that line had me in a chokehold as a 13 year old LMAO
@mrspreminger Glasgow kisses be like (also this reminds me of the book after with the whole crashing face thing)
Lauren is trying to write every trope into one series stg
girlie really wanted to write OC fanfiction😂 no shame but whyyyyy is this stuff the only writing getting mainstream traction???
@@smolexfundie6458anything hyped on TikTok tends to be bad IMO. If something (music, books) gets traction on TT, it’s a sure sign of garbage.

Unpopular opinion but I actually liked switching to Kitt’s POV, not because of what happens in it but because Kai and Paedyn were SO UNBEARABLE
oh my god, yes!
agreed 😭

So happy my parasocial bestie is here to yap with me

Dance of Thieves is one of my favorites lauren needs to leave it alone lol (edit after watching: who compared this to DoT this sounds nothing like it)

We just need Paedyn to be a secret princess next book lol.

The plague sounds like the vampire biology of Vampire Knight where inc*st is "necessary" for vampires/families to remain powerful........

Not negativity, just shit talking bad books in a humorous way. Doing the lords work, as far as I'm concerned.
It's humorous opinions of books she didn't enjoy. That's the theme.
