Do you know someone who knows Pandit Nikhil Banerjee's from very close. I feel like reading more about him, exploring his work, his style as per my little knowledge and feeling of heart is utmost meditative. This made me wonder from which part of his consciousness he must be playing all the time and how is he tuning himself to that level and make other resonate or come to same state of being !! My sincere pranams to his soul and wherever he might be in this cosmos, divinity will be showering grace!

I feel it is the communion with the eternity at play. We are obviously drawn in to the flowing river of the nectar as we all are very much integral part of that....

Here is something I just watched last night. It is an excellent film about his life - very informative and inspiring. I will post the link in the next reply but in case YT deletes it just search “Sitar Samrat Nikhil Banerjee”.

The Gharana is characteristic of treating ragas with ponderous depth and expansion, Pt.Nikhil Banerjee is one the precious gems of his Gharana, the Maihar-Senia style.

A pleasant sounding raga like Rageshwari usually preferred in the yore days by the courtesans to please their fuedal clientele could have such a serene and sombre face, who does know

Pt Nikhil Banerjee evolved his own style of playing his instrument ,sitar, and in that process to communicate to his listeners the spiritual depth of Indian Classical Music ,shunning the traditional method of following the style of a particular gharana. This is the speciality of sitar playing of Pt Banerjee without showing of much technical complexities involved in it. This is certainly unique which made him so different as a classical musician than rest of the others, both his contemporaries and successors.

All the followers of Vilayeti gharana try to follow ut Vilayet khan which is futile because Ut Vilayet Khan was a genius and cannot be attained by his followers in any respect.
