Tbh I wouldn't mind the huge spinal beam on Sajuuk and the Progenitor Dreadnought having a much longer reload if it... you know, actually was able to one-shot capital ships like it does in that one cutscene.
Man! This was a really close call. Kinda sad how both the Drednaught and Sajuuk have these gigantic beams of death and they don't actually do as much damage as their visuals suggest. Very disappointing. I guess the best-before date of Progenitor tech has been well overdue.
You might be remembering Sajuuk wrong then because it's PD weapons were insane. Those things were dropping everything from fighters to destroyers if Sajuuk was close enough.
The Dreadnought's phased cannon array is surprisingly underwhelming when we get to use it. The quick scripted scene where it one-shots a Battlecruiser sold the idea that it was a powerful wonder weapon. That was a lie. It won't even survive a pair of them. You can barely hold up with the Keepers with this thing in your arsenal - every other ship at your command has to put their 150% to beat the mission. Utterly disappointing.
ИИ игры хромает. Нет возможности навести совмещенный огонь дредноута по одной цели. Он атакует две.- стрельба по двум эсминцам. По этой причине он проиграл.
No way the progenitor dreadnaught went down in this situation, this is clearly gearbox’s work of heavily nerfing progenitor ships, if a keeper can sustain hits while dealing with like what around 70 hiigaran ships and only sustaining only a slight more than a scratch surely larger progenitor ships would be drastically more durable than the keeper
Eh, depends. The dreadnaught wasn't maintained and broke immediately after first use of the cannon. Wouldn't be a stretch to think that the repair wasn't perfect and that most systems were broken or severely degraded. Not to mention that the dreadnaught wasn't meant as a warship. It was like a doorman for Sajuuk, merely having the keys for you to travel to see Sajuuk. The Keepers, on the other hand, seem like legitimate warships or guardians what with being completely automated with fast repair abilities.
One of the most reasonable answer for "lack of firepower" (other than being ancient and not maintained) is that after the Bentusi repairs they fine-tuned it to be a more practical and faster reloading weapon in order to make it stable yet still usable, after all even the Bentusi with all their knowledge even they can't truly understand and repair fully such ancient yet very advanced technology. The Phase Cannon Array was extremely powerful, but due to it's age the Progenitor Dreadnought itself can't contain anymore the intensive energies the weapon generates, most likely results in tearing itself apart if such intensive energies are fired repeatedly. By making it fire less powerful "toned-down" shots it makes it safer to use and much more practical in long battles, but I admit that giving the players a One-Shot weapon to dispatch large targets from distance would have been awesome, instead it works like a bit more powerful BattleCruiser now. But if my theory is right then it brings up the question how Makaan toned-down the second Dreadnought in the same manner without Bentusi expertise (also where the hell he found it... on the mission in the Karos Graveyard there is actually two Dreadnought Berths, the back section of the large Progenitor Mothership, on the map where the player finds the Progenitor Dreadnought, which is very illogical, and too convinient to have two Dreadnoughts, but oh well, every car have a backup key if the first one is lost) All in all, it is for balance, to make it not too convinient but also risky to use it, the range is similar to a BC, so the Dreadnought could easily overwhelmed without backup. Also another theory is that the Keepers are Autonomus constructs that are capable not just operate without any outside control but they also self-repair, just like the Movers, in a sense they don't "age", they are maintaining themselves to near perfect conditon even after many thousands of years. However Dreadnoughts are operated by crew, either by onboard or remote control, and they don't posses highly advanced AI or the ability to self-repair, they can't maintain themselves. Therefore even if they are operational after such a long time they age terribly, and many of it's systems are still off-line or beyond repair. This gives the idea that maybe even Dreadnoughts had advanced Shielding technology, and very powerful and resistant Armor, but now it only can rally on their aged Armor that is now really suspactible to damage (based on the fact how tough Movers are naturally before the Anti-Mover Research is done).
Still don't understand how a smaller ship (keeper) can have more health than what seems to be a much more armed and armored larger ship (dreadnaught/sajuuk), probably just ingame oversight that never had any actual reason, but if it did, then an actual progenitor combat focused ship like the keeper of a dreadnaught size would be extremely powerful, regardless, it's sad to see how overpowered the phased cannon array looks, just for it to do mediocre damage, maybe that battlecruiser instakill scene was cause they put 1000% power into the beam, resulting in the entire ship breaking
@@Lotus_Wotus from what I know of the progenitors. The keepers and there drones are the only actual combat ships. The “dreadnought” was just a key to balcora that had some defensive capabilities. And Sajuuk was also just a key to the hyperspace gate network. That just so happened to have defensive capabilities. It’s just what the progenitors consider simple defensive capabilities is lightyears ahead from what we expect.
@@PraetorPaktu True, an actual progenitor warship made for combat of a sajuuk size, while keeping in mind the keeper having around a million health for a destroyer size, would be absolutely crazy, truly shows what the progenitors are capable of, really sad to see the concept of expanding on the progenitor's fate and origins (which I'm pretty sure was actually considered for the plot) be thrown down the drain in Homeworld 3 for such a mediocre story
