As for the comment about trying to be more authentic, the Japanese are about performance, a spectacle, not some person showing up in casual clothes and putting on a show, whether it be big, or small. I think she's great live, people have nerves you know, they are not flawless documents of their albums. I'm sure traveling to America for the first time and performing on a strange venue like this, completely different from the typical Japanese show is a bit of a scary process.
At least you know she's not lip syncing. That's a plus.
Everybody talks about her voice like really? She isnt using any support its her real voice which is amazing, not many singers can actually sing without using playback
@JenniferLuna Agreed! Also, live music is all about experiencing the emotion of the music and the artist's connection to it. I think Kanon does a great job at doing that!
Ok, Vampire Knight, here I go again, to rewatch you for the 4th time! Music is just so awesome, as well as show. Wish for season 3...

I think her live voice is amazing. I mean, listen to that vibrato. It must be really hard to sing like that.
I discovered KAnon ofc from Vampire Knight years ago. And now I discovered this artist named Melanie martinez who I reminded by Kanon because of the weird samples and music. I just went here to reminded by her what good music she makes with her cello.
I love Melanie as well... I knew her before Kanon. I discovered this cellist through one of my friends... Shinskoku Dolce is such a great album!

I try singing this and its hard to get that high pitch without your throat in pain or cracking. I praise Kanon for this!

I mean, I know it doesnt sound like the music video. I mean, who ever DOES sound exactly like the music video? It's impossible nowadays, there's too much editing. Also, I didn't really like her singing here either at first. And thats because I was too used to listening to the edited version. But I listened to it again and realised that it was truly beautiful and unique! :3 (In my opinion)

Kanon Wakeshima is amazing but I don't think she has all of Japan's talent. Personally I think Kalafina sings a bit better. But I love both of them equally and they are so talented and still sing beautifully.

she's good because she can play around her voice... but what happened is , she was nervous because before this performance she was speaking in English..(which she is never used to) so when her song started to play, the nervousness of speaking in English changed all her emotions, and the result was this video... but who cares? she's the best!! I love kanon!!!

I like the performance, of course she's not perfect but who cares? You hear that she definately sung the song on the album and wasn't faking anything with too much autotune. I really like her voice it's just soooooooooo kawai

I became a fan of Kanon-sama's when I found she was the artist who did Vampire Knight's endings. But when I discovered that she played the cello herself, I was hooked. I've played the cello for a few years, but I'm not very good as of now. I want to be as good as Kanon-sama one day! As for her live voice, it is quite different from recordings. But it is attractive in some odd way., , ,

I think one of the reasons she was not up to CD standard was because she was a bit nervous. It happens to everyone! But her cello was still awesome!!! :-)

she sounded different live but she's probably just nervous. i still love her. the recorded versions always have really good equipment to make it sound good and remember in the original song of this, it had that whisper in the first part, before the chorus, so i'm not sure if she'll be able to pull it off in live concerts.

Whether that tremolo in her voice was from nerves or done on purpose, she still sounded absolutely gorgeous. My only complaint is that she was a little flat from the beginning to "miteta".
Props for courage I couldn't do that in front of a crowd. She really is lovely and pretty amazing. =^.^=

@kateelynn97 it doesn`t matter, she tried her best, i think she sounds absolutely amazing and her voice sounds so opera-ish and cuute! i know you would probably be off-tune and nervous when your performing in front of a bunch of people you don`t know. so to the people bashing her singing, don`t. `cause every normal person would be nervous and offtune in front of a bunch of people singing. and plus the people there look very bored as if they aren`t interested in her singing and music :/

i think shes amazing no matter what. i really think that it could have been her being nervous, with a crowd that comes and goes and having the pressure of them watching and walking away. im sure with more public practice she'll do great:)
