I mean Qatar (obviously Al Jazeera is funded by the Qatari government) funded a lot of the "rebel groups" (wahhabi terrorists) that were flooded into Syria to topple Assad so this was always going to be leaning in a certain direction.

Well according this video the crackdown turned into the war, which is laughable at best, sad in reality. But yeah we know AJ's stance in this. Willing to close its eyes at the cost of human lives, while at the same time preaching about the cost of lives.
ALL this mess was and still is pure politics. Nothing less, nothing more.

Nobody will say Assad is a great humanitarian. But the gas attacks were very shady in the reporting, and the blame on Assad was pushed by the US, who still control a majority of the oil fields as a result. He has held a strong relationship with Russia and refused to capitulate to the West. As the Middle East shifts more independent and eastern leaning, the need to please the US and Europe is less pressing with the multi polarization of global economics.

Very sad, disheartening and heartbreaking that - those who have been responsible for some of the worst atrocities and misery since 1940s to date, easily get away with it.
Those mainly responsible for causing the millions of deaths in: Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria etc. have easily continued being given the red carpet wherever they go, or have easily been rehabilitated (as with Assad).
And let's not forget, that, in Syria, just as in Libya - there is the other side (almost all foreign powers); those who funded the other side. The rebels. So many factions of them. All that contributed to the chaos, the hundreds of thousands of deaths, the misery, the destruction, the exodus and refugees - which all still exist to this day.

Both old Assad and his son Bashar al-Assad have received Western-style education-Bashar is even half a foreigner, educated in London and working as a doctor. If his father didn’t let him take over, he might be Live abroad.
In 2000, he succeeded be the Syrian President, 34 years old, full of vigor. Because he studied in the West and was deeply influenced by Western values, he forged ahead, carried out reforms. After succeeding to the throne, Bashar embarked on reforms and developed the economy with the "troika" of tourism, agriculture and oil.
After ten years of reform, Syria's economy has made considerable progress, During these 10 years, the average annual growth rate of the Syrian economy was close to 4.5%, the inflation rate was lower than 5%, the international reserves increased to 18.2 billion US dollars, the Syrian pound appreciated against the US dollar by an average of 2% per year, and the per capita GDP in 2010 also increased to 3,000 US dollars. In the same time, Syrian people get more freedom.
From beginning to end, Bashar was a progressive leader. Compared with those rulers who go against the trend of history, Bashar should be highly appreciated.
Yes i mentioned you, Putin, Erdogan, Trump and the like. In order to satisfy their personal desires, these people use populism to push the country into the abyss.
Bashar is turning Syria from black to gray, and those are turning the country from white to gray. It is clear at a glance who is high and who is low.
It’s regretful that the western world blame Bashar!
And it’s shameful the arab world abodoned their Syrian brothers and sisters!

Not to take anything away from Syrian victims or refugees or their sufferings…. But unfortunately it’s the similar story in many countries including India, Saudi-Arabia, China and many more. There are no democratic rights to minorities and critics. People are killed at a whim and their voices are suppressed while their families are humiliated in front of crowds. Masses do not care for actual freedom, as long as their life is good. Neighbour country could be committing genocides, but powerful nation will only move to help if there’s something for them to exploit. Otherwise, in cases like of India, Saudi-Arabia and China it’s all business as usual bcos it suits there pockets that way.

I was brainwashed as a youngster, in school, at home, by religion, that it was right to be on the side of good against evil; it was good to be on the side of Truth versus lies; to be strong was to be kind and compassionate not cruel and aggressive. I have learnt over time that all that was just rubbish, designed to make me compliant with those in power. Power is all that matters. Power comes in many ways.

@@jasonmelbaus9077 Knowing and teaching your kids what moral, bad/ good, right /wrong is necessary. It guides us in our behavior and helps us to find the truth.
Even the evilest monsters - like Mao Ho Chi Minh, Stalin, Kim, and Polpot that killed millions of their own people - always tell you that they are right, good, humane, and loving like gods.
Typically, Ho lied about everything from his name, his birth date, and his death ... to political policies and objectives. He cheated on so many women, abandoned his kids, and killed his wife. He and his comrades did not only create several wars to grab powers that caused 10 -15 million deaths but also killed people in very horrific fashions. People were buried alive, thrown rocks at, hung on trees, and tied down under tidal waves to die and suffer slowly. Tens of thousands of his soldiers were forced to death in human wave strategies.
Of course, Ho did not murder millions of people by his hands but by his followers. He was even cheered up by Americans and people in the West. Why were people fooled into committing and supporting his crimes? Is it not because they lack morals and humanity ???
