My Philosophy: I love music. I love all kinds of music. And I go into every album wanting to love it, so that’s my starting point for every review. Keep in mind, though, that music is a very personal thing. An album may hit me personally in a very different way than it hits you. That’s complexly natural and unavoidable, which is why I try to include some personal context in my reviews. It’s so you’ll have a better idea where I’m coming from. In the end, it’s still just my personal opinion, which is inherently biased, and which you may or may not agree with. Hopefully, once in a while, we’ll find common ground.

Release date: 9/6/24. That’s Roger’s birthday. 🎂
LOL!
He's getting desperate with this one
Subtle!😂
@TerrencesClassicRockCorner24 no the payback is the new song 😖 have you heard it?😬
@TerrencesClassicRockCorner24 your easily impressed 😬
One word ummagumma!
@TerrencesClassicRockCorner24 now I respect you you clearly know your Floyd
Zabriskie was just a victim of Antonio ruthless editing some of the tracks like unknown song and country song are actually pretty brilliant!
If I'm not mistaken, September the 6th is Roger Waters' birthday:) What a stroke of genius from David:)
You are correct. LOL!
Or maybe just a petty, dick move...
This is awesome news! Hopefully he tours.
I hope so too!
Right?!
I still like David & am inclined to get this on 💿 .
I ordered the CD but may get the Blu-ray too.
I'm 100% getting the blu-ray.
Great news Kyle, thanks for the update!
Very happy to share!
The greatest musician of allllll time ever, period. Nuff said.
My friend. He responded to my comment once. I'll save it forever....
Great to have new music from him!
@@TrackXTrack yes it is.
El mejor músico ? No no no ..quizas uni de los mejores guitarristaS ..oiste hablar de un tal bob dylan?
Thanks for the news Kyle!
Happy to share!
That cover cracks me up it looks like Ozzy. The fact it's being released on Roger Waters birthday cracks me up too! That is Luck and Strange!
Ozzy! LOL! So true!
I pre-ordered the "translucent sea blue vinyl" on Amazon. I'm OK without those 2 bonus tracks -- even though I will likely be purchasing this one in multiple formats, anyway!
The orchestral versions sound cool. I’ll prob get the Blu-ray version.
Another great album! Single is good, album art is cool, and options are nice. Will be snagging the LP and CD variant I think. Always new stuff from David, unlike others who put out same old stuff 100x over.
David always seems more interested in the new than rehashing the old
@@TrackXTrack Agree, he plays the old due to demand but loves to create new music. Wish he was younger, all the greats are getting very old.
He doesn't keep rehashing the past for money like waters. Keeps moving on
Fair point
Same deal with Robert Plant who refuses to play Stairway to Heaven and other Zeppelin tunes.
shock horror i didnot expect this a new dave gilmour album i new he was in the studio working on songs its been 10 years since is last one looking forward too it
I had a feeling he still had another album in him. Looking forward to it as well.
@@TrackXTrack i thought he was retired
I think he said Pink Floyd was now retired. I don’t think he meant he was done as a solo artist.
He's a musical cicada. He comes back roughly every 9 years. '78/87/94/06/15/24
The first single is called The Piper's Call. I wonder if this is a nod to Syd Barrett, considering that he was the Piper from Pink Floyd's first album, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.
Good theory, but since Polly wrote the lyric, it may not be since she prob never knew Syd.
I ordered the clear transparent :)
Looks cool!
Imy daughter and I got Halloween night tickets for the Hollywood bowl show I'm so stoked see you there dave
Nice!
September 6 that's my late woman's birthday as she passed away Tuesday April 2nd I miss her so much but she's going to be with me in spirit on Halloween night
Do you think he is going to go on tour for the release of this album?
I hope he does some live shows
New Gilmour. Great news
Hopefully he tours/ residency at the sphere.
I hope so too, but what hilmour calls a tour is basicly like 20 dates with half of them in the Uk
I was thinking he’d be perfect for the Sphere too. That place was practically designed for a Pink Floyd style show!
Disappointment?? ....Says who? It's awesome and trust me I'm a extremely devoted fan. Have no idea where these judgements come from lol
Disappointment because vinyl fans get way less music. That’s not a judgement, that’s a quantifiable fact.
I'm with Rayadray. Just happy that there is a vinyl version being offered. The extra tracks are all either releases from 4 years ago or orchestral mixes of songs already on the vinyl, so I'm all set there.
♥️♥️🎸🎸👍
Thanks!
When momentary lapse first came out someone described it as a brilliantly cynical exercise this is what this is!😝
The last good Floyd album was WISH YOU WERE HERE. David Gilmour is like an old Amish farmer milking his only goat until it's dead and dry.
@@charlesclemens4004 truer words
I think the artwork is dreadful. I really don’t care about Corbijns stuff, it’s all pretty uninspired IMO. So much more effort went into the Rattle That Lock cover (which still has the “Hipgnosis feel” though Aubrey Powell was just involved and not the main artist), it’s really depressing to see this. Also bonus tracks, and especially stuff that has already been released years ago and is completely out of context doesn’t belong on a regular CD edition of an album, instead the album should musically be strong enough to speak for itself on its own without any additional prop-ups. I don’t support this hodgepodge of different versions depending on the format.
Rumor has it there will be deluxe editions of the album too. That’s the way it goes these days.
Yep... I didn't like the artwork on the Beatle's white album so... It's not all about the cover is it?
@@twohandsandaradioYou expect a little more effort going into an album cover for a Pink Floyd or related album than with other artists. Most of The Beatles album covers showed them as a band and were based on very simple ideas and can hardly be called works of art. The White Album was an ingenious idea but (as often - like with the Rooftop Concert) born out of the situation of not really knowing what to do. Depeche Mode for me represents simplistic music that forever sticks to a formula - Corbinjs covers very much fit that kind of "muzak". I expected more from Gilmour, but then also this new track fails to excite me. It's as if he went out of good musical ideas. But I'm happy for those who appreciate it.
El mejor disco que he escuchado dark side of the moon...el compisitor? Waters.
@@angelmansilla7375 I think you'll find Waters earns more from writing the older Floyd tracks than Gilmour... Polly Sampson's lyrics aren't as good as Rogers, & never will be. Like the other replier, I'm a massive Floyd fan & have 95% of their entire catalogue. There's no comparison, from Waters' contribution to the later stuff.
I'm a cd consumer, not interested at all in vinyl, so it's ok by me. That said, I wish he patched it up with Roger Waters to try for something REALLY worthwhile (not necessarily Pink Floyd). But I guess it will never happen.
At this point, I doubt they will ever reconcile.
No, it will never happen, but I'll put Rattle That Lock up with anything Waters has done in 30 years. Not every track works, but In Any Tongue is the kind of song Waters is incapable of writing now.
along with nick mason i love to see waters and gilmour work together again and make that pink floyd magic again but we know it wont happen
You'll never see RW reunite with them ever again. Polly made sure of that. 🤦♂️
@TerrencesClassicRockCorner24 Yes, as Pink Floyd. Dave and Roger were starting to do a gig now and then, on the same bill and sometimes collaborating, if the cause was right. After big mouth Polly started tweeting at Roger calling him an anti-Semite- that destroyed whatever little rapport Dave and Roger had. Now we'll never see them play "together" again as Pink Floyd or otherwise.
I am willing to bet that the release date of Gilmour's new abum was Polly's idea. Another dig at RW. It's all so ridiculous.

Noooo👎
Obviously a Waters apologist.
😂
Not close to his best work, and David knows it, but oh well.
Based on one song? Geez....
I've only heard The Piper's call so far, and I'm into that one. It's already better than pretty much any track on the Endless River.
@@jonw8694 Though I did really like the actual song on Endless...
Gilmour will trot out all his yes men and you'll all eat it up like so much chocolate
Not a patch on Pink Floyd in their hey day you can be certain of that!
Congratulations Bill, you win the stupid comment of the day award.
See the reply above mine!🤡
Maybe he’ll trot out his family as well Bill, you are spot on
Roger is that you?
@@email5023 now that's funny 🤣
Great, more awful lyrics from Polly Samson.
David isn't a very good lyricist, so we're probably better off with Polly writing the words.
Neither is she
Roger is a genuis
@@WilliamKinsey-dx2dn Right, just ask him.
@@robertmartin8565I don't have to ask him I've seen him four times
Yeah, the great David Gilmour comes with a new album. Boring😴
like you!
so dull and lackluster you are like a dirty penny.
Roger Waters released four straight boring ass POS out of Is This the Life We Really Want?, Us and Them Live, Lockdown Sessions and Dark Side Redux and lip syncing on stage.
