As you move onto the other films, relaize this: Rocky represents different aspects of Stallone’s career and to some extent of the mainstream culture. Rocky 1 was Stallone’s big break in Hollywood. The guy had to sell his dog and to Star in porno movies just to keep on hoping for his shot. Most of the cast in Rocky already had experience and fame before Stallone. The story is a tale of realistic struggles in the 1970s Philly. Its success was shocking and jolted him to stardom. Rocky II was the movie that showed the world that Stallone wasn’t a one trick pony, thst Rocky wasn’t just a solo great movie. Stallone had made roles prior to Rocky ii and while they weren’t bad they weren’t “superstar” levels. Without Rocky 2, we don’t get the others films.
The depiction of Philadelphia was accurate and not just Hollywood varnish. As steel and auto manufacturers began moving their operations overseas in the late ‘70s, cities like Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Detroit, et al. (part of the “Rust Belt”) suffered economically. The U.S. was in a recession for a decade, starting in 1973, after OPEC’s oil embargo began, which is a big reason why many American ‘70s films have such a great gritty look and feel. Other great films in this vein include “Saturday Night Fever” (just as Rocky wasn’t just about boxing, “Fever” wasn’t just about disco), “Dog Day Afternoon,” “Serpico,” “The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3,” “French Connection,” “Klute,” and “Midnight Cowboy” (a 1969 film, but it really belongs in the gritty ‘70s genre. Also a chance to see Dustin Hoffman long before “Rain Man,” which you also reviewed).
Probably one of the most emotional reactions to a Rocky movie I’ve seen. I love how you catch a lot of things that most people miss, such as Rocky asking Adrian ,”Where’s your hat?” at the end of the first movie.
You are right, that's why I love her reactions, and specifically the “Where's your hat?” scene is a great example, because I mean, you got Rocky in this massive event, but he doesn't care about that, he's just paying attention to the love of his life. Thats what makes people to love him, because he is so authentic and I hate when people miss that.
Awww that is so sweet! Thank you! I am an extremely emotional person irl this is just how I'd be if I were watching a film in the dark by myself or with the camera rolling hahaha but I am so grateful that you enjoy my reactions because they truly are just how I feel and experience things! ❤️🥹❤️
there is something touching about watching a simple humble person succeed after getting constantly beaten down by life. Thats why Rocky is so endearing, he is "us". When he wins or goes the distance, we can also see ourselves doing the same.
Sylvester Stallone wrote all the Rocky movies and he directed this movie too. He always says that it's not a boxing movie it's a love story between Rocky and Adrian. Please watch the whole series Sly is a brilliant writer and these movies are worth the watch. I love your reactions.
I'm glad you reacted after the first one much sooner than some of the other reactors did. It actually helps first time viewers to appreciate the characters more when it's done that way as they grow more emotionally invested. Of course, I'd love for you to experience the rest of the Rocky films... Please do III, IV, V, Balboa, and the Creeds as soon as you can. Coming from a Rocky girl-fan, you will not be disappointed... I guarantee you that. Keep punching! 🥊😊
I am a new viewer of your channel and I really appreciate your genuine reactions / emotions in your reviews! Thank you I look forward to watching more!
this is the main problem with people today they allways want to change you but they dont realise that deep down you can never change who and what you are and if you do it will make you very very unhappy...
That was a beautiful reaction. Thanks again. I have a picture of Stallone with my second boxing manager hanging on my living room wall. I wasn’t there at the time and didn’t get to meet him but my daughter did once. His movies, especially the first two, were an inspiration to me for sure.
Stallone wrote and directed all of these and got a statue for it and his feet bronzed into the ground at the Philly art museum. People literally worship the ground he walked on. He’s a deity.
The reason Rocky kept hitting the curb in his car, was because he had eye damage and couldn't see too well out of his right eye. FYI: The guy singing outside in the first and second movie was Sylvester Stallone's brother Frank.
Silvester Stallone really knew how to make the characters feel real in these movies. Rocky is goofy but so endearing and down to earth character that goes through so many real ups and downs its makes the fight so much more tense at the end.
i grew up on these movies and I love them all...when Adrian says win in the hospital room the music kicks in and Mickey yells "What are we waiting for" It makes me want to go train hahaha....Keep the Rocky reactions coming Jade!!!! They're all worth it even though some people think some are weaker than others which is fair but It's hard to live up to 1 and 2...My favorite is 3 :)
Jade, another spectacular reaction. You have quickly become one of my favorites. Like in the last one, your reaction is honest, quick, and emotional. You pick up lines that many miss. And like I said in the last one, you show great empathy for the characters. And when people have that kind of reaction to a movie they tend to be that in real life...which means...you must be a very caring, empathetic, honest person. In today's world of 'fakeness', you are a refreshing soul.
Iconic Boxing movie of all time! Series nothing comes close, there also a great movie boxing by Paul Newman , somebody Up There Likes Me that’s a great boxing movie also But Rocky is One of the best of all time
The first scene of the movie (after the recap scenes) with the two ambulances racing to the hospital always gives me chills. Both Apollo and Rocky were just in a war.
I spent 17 years in the Philly area. Can testify that all the scenes you saw were in fact Philly. We saw the Italian market, the trail along the Schulkyl River, Art Museum row, etc.
you have no idea how much you´re gonna love this couple... They are the best. I myself, am very fortunate to have my own "Adrian", Ana Paula. She´s the best, the one, the only. And a wonderful nurse, on top of that
Awww!! I feel you! I am so lucky to be married to my favourite human on earth and it makes me so happy to see others be with their favourite person too!! 😭😭🥹🥹❤️
I hope you do the whole series. Glad I found your channel tonight. Found it by looking for rocky reactions. Wonderful reaction. Time to binge watch all your great content.
I love all the Rocky movies. I can't wait to watch the rest of them with you. I still get emotional even though I've watched them each a hundred times.
The baby was Stallone's own son Seargeoh. There was another cameo in this movie, when Rocky was sparring with the smaller fighter and couldn't catch him, the other fighter was a legendary fighter by the name of Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran. He was a multiple time world champion and considered by many boxing experts/historians as one of the greatest fighters of all time. I believe Stallone was legit trying to catch or corner Duran and couldn't do it because Duran was so good.
Yo Jade! Rocky Balboa was my idols as a kid. Also, some of your reactions to Rocky II was hilarious.. and some of your reactions, well I cried a bit too..hoping you’ll be watching part 3 It’s a doozy..
What you're going to find as these movies go on is just how crucial and important Adrian is to everything. She is a great character with a wonderful arc of strength and wisdom.
This is probably my favorite training montage of all the movies. Maybe Rocky 3 and Creed movies. They're all great but this one gave me goosebumps in the theater.
Super thrilled that you’re continuing the saga. It’s definitely an emotional ride. Rocky III is another great one, but is far more bombastic than the first two. Rocky IV is a personal favorite of mine.
❤ Love the sniffling. Yours not mine. Mine is from allergies. ROCKY II had to happen. Apollo expected a cake walk the first time, and his lack of cocern nearly cost him his title. He got so much disrespect from the fact that he let a nobody almost take him down. This time, he treated the process like a real fight but still let his ego cost him. Next time, we get the Eye of the Tiger. Wrestler Hulk Hogan and tv's Mr T.
Great video, thank you Jade!❤ Couple of additional facts related to this movie from real-world boxing: 1) Rocky's head movements & defense style (29:05) is very similar to the boxing style of Joe Frazier - one of the greatest heavyweight champions & the main rival of Muhammad Ali. Joe was living in Philadelphia just like Rocky did, so this style could be a small reference to him. Though Frazier's defense was much better:) 2) At 30:05 only the ropes stopped Rocky from falling down - this situation should be considered as knockdown, so the ref should start the count
Quick question, are your shorts monetized, and does youtube's content ID detection system still allow you to make revenue on your shorts because of fair use policy?
Alot of ppl are very opinionated on this series saying only watch it up to a certain number or skip a certain movie plz watch them all they are very different movies but all good in there own way, great reaction. Please react to the warriors (1979) I think you will love it no one reacts to it keep it up.
I don't know how far you want to go with this series, but without getting into spoilers, starting with the 3rd one, we're about to get very 80s. Some people love that, some find it really...fromage. I go back and forth, since I was born in 1981. Some of it comes off like a long 80s music video, but if I'm in the mood for that, it's good viewing. I love that this isn't just a rehashing of the first film. It's a continuing story and there's more character development. But when was that tiger on the back of jackets ever cool?
If Rocky had run from where his house is, past all the landmarks he ran past and to the art museum steps he would've run over 30 miles, which is longer than a full marathon. Despite this there have been organized fun runs done by fans of the Rocky movies where people have run the entire 30 miles dressed as Rocky.
Great movie and a great reaction. What I like about your reaction is that you're totally open and willing to be vulnerable to whatever story presents itself. You have so much empathy that you feel what the characters feel in the moment and are willing to share that with your audience.
Another REALLY great Rocky reaction, thank you 🙂. Please keep them coming (to be honest I think it would be tough at this point to STOP you from watching all of them lol).
The ROCKY franchise is the most hyped so of course that is what is going to be voted for. But the lesser known Ron Howard biopic CINDERELLA MAN (starring Russell Crowe and Rene Zellwegger) being a depiction of a true underdog boxing story is ten times more compelling. And it has a wonderful score, too. All around a much better film. Check it out someday. Your Patreon voters won't vote for it given most have likely never seen it. But it is a great movie, one that one of your main competitors (Popcorn in Bed) called the best movie she has seen on her channel. And considering how many great movies she'd seen prior to that one it should tell you a lot.
I am enjoying your reactions so very much. I hope you'll continue watching Rocky and if you haven't seen them after Rocky you can check out Rambo, I th🎉you'll enjoy them too.

man, I said it in the Rocky I reaction: Adrian saying "win" to Rocky in the hospital is my favourite scene
Seen this movie about a 1000 times and the ending still gets to me
In the hospital when Adrian tells Rocky to win and that music kicks in...gives me goose bumps every time
great reaction to my favorite movie of the Rocky franchise. When Adrian says, "win" - it makes me so happy and emotional...
The reason Rocky kept hitting the curb in his car, was because he had eye damage and couldn't see too well out of his right eye.
