    The Kawasaki Z1R has to be the most well rounded machine of the era , sport with touring ability .

      @@straightchad8059 I like the Z1R as well. I would like to ride one back-to-back with my big Suzukis for comparison. Cheers!

    This just made me think of the bikes I'd like to have from different decades again. I was thinking about the 90's and, other than off road/dual sports, the only bike less than 750cc I can think of is the 96/97 Honda 600 Smokin Joes replica. They just looked cool because of the paint scheme. The 70's and 80's had more. Thanks for showing those great bikes.

    Those old dirt bikes look so simple, no plastics, just a motor hanging off a simple frame! The ST1100 styling really holds up, especially in Red, to me anyways, maybe someday!

    Thanks Jon. I rode one of those Yamaha 500 MX bikes when they were new. They had no power band to speak of. It was more of an “on-off switch”. Great show.

    I had a Seca Turbo for a few years, I disconnected the waste gate and put four piston calipers on the front brake and improved the suspension. I did most of these things before I owned it for a friend. He gave it to me and I gave it to another friend. It was a nice highway bike.
    SC500s were discounted to $795 in 1975, flexible frame and difficult power band. The 360 was more balanced and the 250 was the best. More power didn't improve that chassis. RZ350 great bike, Too much fun. Toomey racing made them more fun. Loose your license fun.

      Thanks for the additional insight into the Yamahas, Donald! I can't Imagine riding the SC500. Sometimes too much is too much. I rode a friends race-prepped Banshee 350 in high school. One hit of the powerband and a rooster tail of gravel later, I'd had enough. I idled it back to him with a sincere "thanks, but no thanks"! Cheers!

    Hola Jhon.hermosas motocicletas.

¡Salud!

    WOW. I'm a huge kawi Z fan. Fuel injection would be a treat to have on my 650. I have 2 examples. 78 B2 and a 77 C1. I prefer the B for looks and prefer the feel of a rear drum, but not so much the stopping power.

    I had an RZ350W for about 20 years. Fast, stable, and stopped spectacularly. And good for 60 mi/IGallon, unless you wrung it neck. As you said, I could see a wake of smoke swirling behind me.

    Thanks for the video. Do you know how I can find out dates of classic motorcycle shows on the East Coast? I have a 1989 Yamaha AT1 that I would like to show. Thanks again.

      That's a great question. I'm still finding out about the local shows myself. I don't know of a single source for all the show dates. You can contact VJMC - they should be able to give you some show dates.

    I rode the Kenny Roberts Yamaha 350cc that you showed your video. Super Super fast. Yeah you're right Jon it's not a commuter motorcycle that's a sport motorcycle for going through mountain roads. I had the pleasure of riding it up in Vermont. As always Jon great video it is great to see classic vintage motorcycles. I believe I saw some mad Max motorcycles.

    Miss my old 79 kz1000 ltd don't miss the 90.mph high speed wobble own a number of 1000s and one 900 most of them had that wobble cranking threw the gears ? Nice review of the swap meet

    • @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538
      @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538  6 днів тому

      @@KennethMayo-h9h Thanks, Kenneth! I think the woble can be induced just by shifting aggressively at the higher speeds. I've noticed it on several of my classic bikes. If I'm smoother with my control inputs, it isn't as pronounced. Still, you can feel the chassis flex when you push them hard. Cheers!
