tbf the answer is not that simplistic (considering so much of canada is at the same latitude as europe, which is mostly not nearly as cold) and has more to do with the gulf stream

USA is so powerful because it has a lot of freedom ANFS and literally perfect geography.
Mexico so poor because of its civil war which unusually deadly and destroyed infrastructure along with lack of competition and the USA helped weaken it.
Peru so dry it ain’t actually really the dry in fact the main areas there are wet humid and tropical but in small areas tall mountains block rain on all sides which makes it dry.
Why chile is so long Chiles population concentrated in thin tall long mountains naturally makin Chile long at first but Chile conquered south makin it longer.
Columbia so dangerous. It’s poor and corrupt. Why? Same reason as Mexico.
Why Brazil so big? It is open for culture to mix and let it be dominated by one entity and all Portugal American colony was unified to form Brazil.
Venezuela so poor? Basically communism.
