That the woman has an UNMISTAKEABLE TONE and STYLE. And this is coming from a MYA stan. White kids had pop princesses like: Britney, Christina, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore. We had R&B Princesses: AAliyah, Brandy, Monica, and Mya. I listen to Mya to this day. Christina can sing Mya songs note for note. Mya could never sing a Christina song. I mean she could, but she could not hit those hard to reach notes.

P!NK is not only a insanely good singer, but also an incredible live performer! Have seen her in her recent Summer Carnival Tour and holy moly, she's crazy live!
I've went into the rabbit hole afterwards and found some videos of live performances of her for Brit Awards etc. She's so artistic, singing always live while doing power performances and after I've seen interviews, she's one of the realest & coolest singers in the whole industry. Down to earth, thankful to fans, very respectful towards their fans, singing together with kids that attend her concerts.
I'd recommend the live version of "Try", the live performance of "Glitter in the air", live version of "So what" with her flying around the stadium while singing and her medleys at Brit Awards, Billboard Awards, etc.
Do you remember her live performance of sober. That was really good.

This song is a cover of the original by LaBelle (Patti LaBelle’s group) from 1974. It’s about a New Orleans uummm… shall I say “lady of the night”. 😂 Hence the lyrics “Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir?” Which basically means, “would you like to sleep with me tonight?”.

Moulin Rouge is a real place, a cabaret club in Paris with a red windmill on it. The movie is a story based on the people working at the club set in the 19th century. Nominated for 8 Oscars, its an excellent juke box musical you should check out. You could actually do a video just breaking down the epic musical arrangements and mash-ups of all the classic songs in it.
It was a brothel too not just cabaret..
So, who will tell them this really should be under Christina Aguilera, featuring the others, and produced by Missy Elliott. Xtina was who they built the cover song around because she could handle Patti's vocals.

Ok the long short of it is, the movie was a musical about a whorehouse in France starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor (Oscar bait and got noms and wins).
The song is a Christina song which is a cover of an old song that Patti LaBelle covered in her band and made popular. The song is about a hooker in New Orleans named Lady Marmalade (yes the jam) and how one of her clients kept thinking about her days after hooking up with her. "Voulez vous coucher avec moi?" translates to "will u sleep with me tonight?".
Come on people, all of them, P!nk, Xtina, Mya and Lil' Kim are incredible, we can appreciate them all without demeaning the other. It's 2024, we should support female singers.
In fact, the film received several Oscar nominations, for best film, best actress for Nicole Kidman and others. I love the film but it's not for everyone

Christina fan here and as much as i love her part i find it so funny how Pink never gets that much praise for her vocals here. Regardless of what people think, Pink held her own on this song. A truly criminally underrated vocalist

This song is a "lady of the evening" anthem. Lady Marmalade works in New Orleans' French Quarter. Listen to what Maya sings "He met Marmalade down on Moulin Rouge strutting her stuff on the street. She said hey Joe you want to give it a go"
Pattie LaBelle who sung the original didn't know what it meant when she first sung it until she asked one of the writers. There was some backlash after the song came out.
Pattie said she was naive and thought it was just a woman walking down the street😂 She was horrified what her mom would think. She's grown to accept and love the song.

About the setting and difference between brothels and cabarets... Think of it like this..
Cabaret = Vocal focused & sexy but mostly tasteful.
Burlesque = Not vocal, more of a show, basically stripping but in a more tasteful way.
Strip Club = Wings and women twerking on a pole, low brow.
Brothel = A sex service club, not for shows.
The movie was about a brother but it was a musical so it had elements of cabaret in it in a Broadway style.

There was drama between Pink and Christina because Pink was told before showing up that she would be singing g Christina's part but when she arrived Christina's people were like no she's singing it, there was beef between them ever since.
Beef has been resolved years ago. They both spoke about it in interviews. And to be fair it made sense to have Christina sing the climax. Not saying the way they did it is correct.
