Gene Crane? He just died recently (in August 2019) at age 99. Was a staple on Channel 10 and, in the 1970s until about 1982 as the man with a microphone on ACME Markets TV commercials.
Wow, I thought I was the only one to remember that. I also think the same theme was used for the WCAU Afternoon Movie. I also would love to see it again.
Not that I know of. I.I.N.M., WBBM and KNXT/KCBS had used what WCBS used for "The Late Show." The only question mark is KMOX during CBS's ownership of that station. This one appears unique to WCAU.
I can confirm that they did use it in the 80s, as I remember this being used for a few years from the time I began receiving Philly stations via cable from the NYC market.
I remember the "Late Show" theme from the early 70's on WCAU. It was bright, blue stars travelling toward the viewer with Barry White's "Love's Theme" playing in the background. That would be great to see again.
@dandydonaldo - I did find out, subsequent to my query, that KMOX, prior to adopting "The Bijou Picture Show" title, had indeed employed the "Late Show" (and "Late Late Show") branding that the other CBS O&O's had employed.
indeed, classic voice!

I've been looking for video of that for years.
Well that answers the question I had on whether WCAU used the same "The Late Show" open that WCBS, WBBM, and KNXT/KCBS used.

The 4 o Clock Show.
If only the other O&Os used this one. (I'm sure it was on in NYC, but still...)
Gee, that's pretty impressive if that's the case. I would have said early 80s, but the music certainly seems to match that era (late 70s).

I've been looking for this intro...thanks for posting!
