How to install steering knuckle seal kit on the DANA 25 front axle. Critical repair to ensure oil is kept in the knuckle to lubricate the bearings and axle shaft.
Comes complete with steel retaining plates, felt padding, and rubber seal. Seals backside of steering knuckle and allows pivot around housing ball without leaks. For all 4WD vehicles.

During the harsh winter months in Canada we decided to take the Willys apart, fix a few parts, and get it back on the road. Then repeat this the next winter. During the winter of 2021 we rebuilt the brakes and basic engine upgrades (spark plugs, water pump, distributor, ignition coil, etc.). THIS winter of 2022 we are tackling to replace the transmission and transfercase but finding lots of other problems deep within the engine. Is it crucial to remove the steering knuckle or can I save myself some work and slice the top of the felt open to slide it over the axle?

I ordered new felt/gasket kit and planned on doing what you are thinking. Seems logical that it would work since the rubber gasket has a split, why not the felt. We shall see when the parts get here. Good luck
