Here is another information about Queen Regine: She's always famous throughout her career but the 1999-2003 period was the peak of her popularity. During those times, she was very in demand from albums, concerts, movies (Yes, she is also a great actress. She has two acting awards under her belt), hostings, magazine covers, etc. She was literally the TOP artist/singer in the Philippines. In fact, she was even voted as one of FHM Philippines' sexiest women. She was in the Top 10 for several years (2000 - Top 9, 2001 - Top 4, 2002 - Top 7, 2010 - Top 8 (She was 40 years old)). But she never posted for FHM. She always turned them down whenever they offered her to do a cover. Meanwhile, her Asian stardom happened on 1994-1996. She released three albums during those years and all of them achieved platinum status in different Asian Countries such as Japan, China, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, etc. In 1997, she decided not to continue her Asian Career. Her reason was her record label didn't want her to mention that she is a Filipino or from the Philippines whenever she has an interview. That's why she settled in the Philippines for good.🙂

A Summary of Queen Regine Velasquez's Career: In the Philippines, she is the Queen of Biriteras/Belters. She started the trend of belting high notes. She is known as the Asia's Songbird when she won the Asia Pacific Singing Contest in 1989 held in Hong Kong. Prior to that, she was the Grand Champion of Ang Bagong Kampeon in 1984. She started her career in 1986. Since then, every albums that she released became multi-platinums even in Asia which made her the Best Selling Filipino Artist of All Time. She is the major influence of the 99% of the female/male singers especially the balladeers/belters who came after her like Sarah Geronimo, Kyla, Rachelle Ann Go, Angeline Quinto, Jona/Jonalyn Viray, Charice/Jake Zyrus, Morissette, Katrina Velarde, 4th Impact, TNT Boys, Marcelito Pomoy and many more. Regine is also known as a Gay Icon. She has many impersonators here. They copy not only the way she sings but also her mannerisms, how she talks and even her dress, hairstyle and make-up. Whenever she has a concert, all the parlors/salons are closed. Now at 50, she is still very capable in hitting high notes.🙂

Finally you've reacted to this performance, this was in 2003 during one of her sunday Tv shows called "SOP" on her former TV network - GMA. It was only uploaded 7years after.
She was only 33 at that time, so her full lyric soprano voice at that time was more lighter, brighter and excellent control in sustaining those F5, F#5, G5, G#5 notes for many seconds. Although in rare occasions if she needed to she also goes to A5, Bb5, B5 and C6.
She is hailed as "The Asia's Songbird" and has been in our showbiz industry for more than 33years and Regine is also our Best Selling Artist of all time in the Philippines.
We filipinos consider this performance that you've reacted as her vocal prime era since she did not have any acid reflux at that time, and during that time, no other soprano singers in our country could match her.
She started vocal belting as a blueprint standard in singing paving way for the newer generations like Jona, Kat Valerde and Morisette Amon to follow her foot steps.

Another Fun Fact: Queen Regine wasn't formally trained. Her trainer was her late father the Great Mang Gerry Velasquez. Her training was similar to the Boxer Rocky Balboa. When she was a little girl, Mang Gerry will immersed her neck-deep in sea water which made her lungs very strong and powerful. That's why she is capable of sustaining high notes in many seconds up until this day.🙂

She has mastered her voice and her belting is arguably the benchmark of all singers that came on the industry after her.
