That car is an absolute gem - and may well have been owned by one of my forbears. I would be very interested to know what Jay knows about its providence. An extremely wealthy ancestor of mine was the proud owner of a long-wheelbase Hispano Suiza - color canary yellow. That car could do 100pmh+ (and apparently did so, often, on dirt roads). Legend in the area where he lived (Goulburn, NSW, Australia), had it that all you would see was "a streak of yellow and cloud of dust". He could easily outrun the police in this vehicle and was once caught by virtue of shaking loose one of those huge brass shrouded headlights! I know that he crashed it and was thrown from the vehicle, breaking his leg. This subsequently lead to his death, from, of all things ... gangrene. A blue short wheelbase version exists here in Melbourne. I took my father, before he died a few years back, to meet the owner and to hear it run. What a treat! I like when you guys are sharing your car lives and cool stuff together. No better experts can be found. Always cool to watch both your Shows. Thanks Lots.
Jay, Thank you for sharing your stellar archive of epic examples of automotive art. Your inclusion of interesting historical facts surrounding each car is informative and entertaining. I feel compelled to question your assertion at 0:05 that this engine was the first eight cylinder aero-engine ever produced; that appears to overlook Glenn Curtiss's 80 HP V-8 bi-plane that enabled him to take the grand prize at the Paris air races held in 1909. As I'm sure you are aware, Curtiss was a motorcycle racer who built engines and worked with the team Alexander Graham Bell assembled to design and build aircraft. aviation-history.com/early/curtiss.htm I look forward to enjoying your in exhaustible stable of unique museum pieces. I am also afflicted with the compulsion to preserve examples of early technical art; in my case, it's the first electronic instruments produced in the development of wireless communications from the spark era before 1920. Best regards, Larry Dighera
Did their shoes melted? This original V8 engine was smaller (11.8L) and was tested for 50 hours run at full power before being slammed, sorry placed into the french SPAD S.VI airplane. The one in the video is the 8F with 18.5L
Jay got this one wrong, I'm afraid. The first V8 aircraft engine was produced in France by Antoinette starting in 1906. It was water cooled and fuel injected, another first.
Why this is a great car? Because it was MADE IN SPAIN !!🇪🇸.. the one and only true competitor of Rolls-Royce . And they are back to build very exclusive luxury car like in the old times. since their relaunch in 2019 they are building by hand 5 HispanoSuiza Carmen Boulogne and 19 HS Carmen $1.6 millón aprox ..( they also built weapons and airplanes engines)
Great video, great mustache, kids these days dont understand that a man needs a mustache to be a MAN. I remember when mustaches were illegal in England and I'm damn glad I dont live in that craphole anymore. Frankly, I've just about had it with all the United Kingdom to be honest, even Wales. Well anyway, please consider uploading in 1080p because 480 looks like someone took ripe shit on the camera. Great mustaches deserve high detail.
Good video Mr. Lenos When do you translate it into Spanish? There are possibilities? A total of 580 million people speak Spanish in the world, 7.6% of the world population. Of these, 483 million -three million more than a year ago- are native Spanish speakers, which makes Spanish the second mother tongue in the world by number of speakers Greetings Buen video Sr Lenos Cuando lo traducen al español ?
Why do all these videos look like they're from the 90's? What are they shooting these videos with? It's 2017, most phones have can do MUCH better than this.

That car really sounds like an airplane! Jay has the premier car collection OAT, and he even lets other people drive them !
The damn thing has an airplane engine and a train horn! It's like a car that wants to be anything but a car. lol.

Keeping Jay honest, I LOVE IT!!
The first V8 aero engine was actually the French Antoinette

I have a question. I did not know they were ever illegal. That's just weird. Why were they illegal?
Did that engine come out before the Curtis OX-5?
It came out a full year before the Curtis and was produced in much larger numbers. It's a moot point, though, because neither was the first aero v8.
I'll bite; what was the first aero v-8?
Bradford Eaton
Somebody else said it was from a French companu called Antoinette in 1906 with fuel injection and was water cooled.
Here you go, the world's first aero V8 engine, complete with water-cooling and fuel injection

Thanks...sure wish that article had more information about the engine.
Ok who's finger slipped and hit the dislike button???
