I only recently found out who Henri was and how great he was. The crash in May 1986 has had a big impact on me as he was a champion cut off in his prime. I also lost a family member in early 1986 so it’s a black year in my memory. So sad, but at least memories remain.
Lancia was a cruel employer at the time. Like Markku Alen says only winning matters. It tells something that no one from team Lancia participated funeral of Henri. Wife Erja once said they were so busy hiring a new driver.
I’ve just founded these couple of documentaries about Henri…… thanks a lot for english subtitles! He was a crazy rally driver and a amazing personality. GOD SPEED, Attilio, Sergio and Henkka. There are no bumps and ice in heaven❤
Thanks a lot for the translation, very very good because we are European, and we don't understand Finland. I wope you translate the others video that are in Finland about Sr Henri Toivonen
@55:20 he was just a few seconds behind metro 6r4 chasing at speed... And next clip where he went all out full speed braking and accelerating maximum attack... Its scary to think that these monster rally car did exist 🥺 Im having goosebumps watching that clips
Harri toivonen said in finnish interwiew 2 years ago that pianta (lancia team main engineer) he was testing s4 in corsika -86, when he drive the car he didin't have enough courage to rev the s4 when turbo kick on.
She didn't beat rorhl in the same machinery did she? If it's the case in what rally? I know she beat him when he was driving the Ascona but don't recall when he was driving for Audi
Correction: at 26:19, Henri says 5500 when he’s asked about how many test kilometres has he driven for Rally of the 1000 Lakes (now Rally Finland). My mistake. So, that’s a lot kilometres nowadays, but back then it was not even that much.

Instablaster...
Yes, and lancia boss said if erja (henri wife) write paper that they don't blame team about the accident, lancia pay rest off the driving.
Simply the best
Henry Toivonen was a rockstar driver like no other
the Gilles Villeneuve of rally

I appreciate it. This was a pretty long and tough project. I did this in memory of Henkka and I’m open to other projects of him as well. Cheers!
As a Finn it warms my heart to see how much Henri gets love and respect from around the world!
R.I.P both, Henri and Sergio.

Michele Mouton was a freeking fast woman. To beat Walter Röhl with a similar car (Audi) needs some talent.

Henkka is a hero to me. He always will be.
He was a good boy too ❤
Giorgio Pianta sempre il primo ad abbracciarlo dopo un successo. Riposino in pace.
