@@vickersmg In 2002 I bought my Vickers for 1500€. (Built, as described in your book, November 1918) The last Vickers I saw at a Show in Germany was supposed to cost 6000€….
Question from a guy from the US. What is the status of the machine guns in the collection and this one? Are they deactivated and no longer capable of firing or does the association have special permits to posses them?
We have authorisation to possess prohibited weapons. We also have a number of deactivated guns that are on open display rather than secured in the cabinets. This one is a firing example.
I'm astonished that they even let you get that in the UK. It's arguable the best machine gun ever produced and here in the us, they go for $40,000.
How do we own machine guns in the UK? The answer.

I hope you succeed in getting the funding for this.
Thank you Phil. It’s slow going so please help and spread the word if you can.
Gratulation! BREN Tripod?
No, Danish DISA tripod with British inspection marks.
@@vickersmg I have a Tripod for the MG34 from 1943 in my collection. Bought it 30 years ago for 700DM=350€. Costs about 4000€ today…. 😳😮
The same sort of inflation on many guns and tripods sadly.

Yes, surplus inflation mimics defence inflation it seems!
the rate of fire is much slower (around 900 rpm)
there are also some other differences to the original
There are but the 900 rpm is still a remarkable cyclic rate with the distinctive sound.
@@vickersmg yes indeed
I hope you will get an original someday
I’m sure we will. I think we’ve still be firing the M53 by preference though - maybe both together for comparisons.
@@vickersmg would interesting because most people dont know the difference
We’ll try but the M53 needs crowdfunding first! Please support if you can vickersmg.blog/product/project-spandau/

Incredible. I'd love to visit if I'm ever in the country. Thank you for answering.
You’d be more than welcome. We have regular open days and firing demonstrations so hopefully one would coincide if you do visit.

That sounds amazing. I'll be there for sure if I'm ever in the UK.
Heresy!
We need something else to show how good the Vickers is ;-)
