Am I the only one who loves this the most out of their song list, even though it is not a huge song? I do love heads will roll, date with the night, sacrilege, maps but there is something about this that holds me... It reminds me of a specific feeling when you make a new best friend but deep down you're expecting them to leave you at some point as you've been used to be treated like this. I have a very low self-esteem and I think that it takes more than a miracle to make real friends that will stick with you but the process of making a friendship can be terrifying and really joyful for as long as it lasts..
I found the studio version of this at a time where I was feeling very isolated and having started a new job where nobody knew me and all of a sudden I made a new friend there. It felt that we knew each other for years, we clicked so quickly and became very closed friends and i told him that I felt like he was an old friend from the past and now he came back.. we both laughed. He was so supportive, with humor and a strange kindness that is really rare these days... After a few months he left the job but we still hang out, sometimes though he was fending off and I used to get that soft shock... You meet people and you get excited and surprised that you made new friends but there is this constant fear or worry that there will be a time that they are gonna leave you... This song reminds me of that feeling.. If only I got my insecurities sorted out and reach out for the people that i want in my life...
The first time I heard was in the car with a girl I met in California. We were saying our goodbyes after a beautiful day together as we went back to our separate homes in separate states.tears streaming down our faces. The perfect bittersweet moment
HUNTING THE ABYSS LORD, this also seems to be a daily focus of YEAH YEAH YEAHS and others as well. That phrase, that song in particular, and that album overall are unbelievable. YYY's have the same intensity in a different way.
PTSD is a blessing and a positive. That's the only way to see it and see through the reality of living in onset-shock which is what PTSD is. I like having PTSD, it makes me faster and stronger and more defensive smart
