Love the historical map-diagram at 8:28. It's updated at 59:41 (and suggested that if there is any Grand Unified Theory (GUT), then this is it).

I was really hoping that he was going to bring it to home base and touch on Wiles' proof of Fermat's last theorem. But there are plenty of videos on that and hardly any on Langlands program. Thank you for the accessible introduction.

Thank you prof. Shin Sugwoo for this excellent and clear lecture on this complicated topic. It looks that is completely unique lecture in English language section of UA-cam.

Are these slides posted somewhere? Love this perspective.

    20:00 "Numerator is 1. That's ok, we can understand 1." :D

    Who the Heck was Hecke?

Quite sad about the slide describing a GUT in physics being out of date by 50 years or so. We still are trying to make a GUT in physics, but this is between the other forces and gravity. The electromagnetic, weak and strong forces were unified many years ago.

the strong and electro-weak theories are far from unified. The strong force is described by Quantum chromo dynamics. The weak and electromagnetic forces are combined in Quantum electro dynamics. Both of which are 2 very separate theories. There is no unified framework for them.
A GUT combines Electroweak and the strong force
A ToE combines Gravity and a GUT
Electromagnetism and Gravity however have been succesfully combined in a classical sense with Kaluza-Klein theory. It is GR with an extra U(1) group which gives rise to electromagnetism.

Here is no nobble prize in math because mathematicians refuse to be nobbled.

Dedekind discovered the (dede)kidest cut of all.
