With winter being in full force up here in the PNW, I wanted to put together a guide on how to prepare for winter hiking, loaded with free, online resources for those of you hiking up here in Washington this season. This video will show you exactly how I plan all of my own winter hikes here in Washington State. Here's to a fun, warm on the inside/snowy on the outside and safe winter hiking season!
please keep doing what you are doing this has helped me figure out so much and all I want in life is to backpack so thank you for helping educate me and posting the beautiful videos you do.❤❤❤❤
This information came in handy last week in Dallas, lol. It's the longest that we've had snow on the ground for as long as I can remember. You sure live in beautiful country up there. It's on the bucket list to visit one day.
It's been a crazy winter all around. Glad I was able to help. I thank my lucky stars I live here everyday. Definitely add Washington to your visit list!
Thank you! This one was a lot of fun to put together. It took me a long time to put it together too because there was so much information I wanted to include.
Hello!! Your videos are very helpful I just have a few questions. How early should I be checking it’s safety? I feel that the time I can and want to go would be pretty snowy ( end January/early feb) in North Carolina. Should I check closer to the time I leave? I’m only afraid that if I wait I’ll lose the place I want to stay at and then I can’t do any of the hikes
Great question! I typically start doing my research for any given trail I plan on hiking on at least a week out before my intended trip. Then I check again a couple of days before to see if conditions have changed and if there are any updated trip reports. And then I check again one more time the night before leaving for my trip.Conditions change quickly out in the mountains, especially during the colder months, so you'll want to check more often prior to your trip.
Check out the video description below the video. In the video description, I have listed ALL of the gear I mention in this video along with links for each piece of gear. Hope this helps!
