Thank you for an excellent tutorial. If you just allow the whey to drip away & skip the last process (of putting it in a bowl with weights, etc.), this cheese is called Labneh in the Middle East (very popular at breakfast). A quantity from the main batch is taken & placed in an 8 oz bowl (or close to that size) & smoothed down. Olive oil is poured over just to cover (not too thickly). It's then used as a spread on bread, or a dip. You can use the 3rd step cheese (cream cheese) as a pizza topping instead of mozzarella (just add it 5 minutes before taking out the pizza from the oven. Don't throw away the whey! Use it instead of water for your dough (many other uses: check on Google). Drink half a glass in the morning as a probiotic.
I watched your video on making butter and now watching this one :) I can almost taste that cheese! it looks beautiful! Really like the way you explain everything so thoroughly.
Thank you for this video! I have my yogurt sitting for 10 hours right now to finish then I'll start thus process!! At $1.70 for a gallon of whole milk here it is SO much cheaper to make my own yogurt and cream cheese! You rock! ♡
Although I probably won't be making any cheese right now I really appreciate your videos. You are inspiring and have a beautiful soul. May God bless you and your family!
Just found your channel not too long ago. I really enjoy everything you post! So many useful ideas and information. You make the videos very enjoyable to watch
You totally rock! Thank you for your videos. I just found you tonight with your staw gardening and I haven't stop watching your videos! I am so inspired. Barb in Dallas. Thanks again.
I love your videos, thank you for sharing all this wonderful information. I look forward to making the yogurt, mozzarella and now cream cheese with my little girls.
So glade my friend found you and sent me the info love all the videos I’ve saw so cheap to make and easy I’ll be passing you videos on to my other friends
Discovered your channel not to long ago. LOVE IT!!! Got my milk and cheese cloth today to make yogurt and cream cheese. Will let you know how everything works out.
I do have a question. My yogurt has been in the fridge for 3 days. By the way, it tastes great with blueberries and a touch of vanilla or honey. You said leave for 1-2 weeks before making cream cheese, I guess I'm impatient and wanting to get started. What is the optimal curing time before I do start? I want to do it right the first time and learn properly. Thanks. Great videos.
Aww dang that pepper jelly cream cheese looked awesome. I have to try this but in the meantime I think I have cream cheese and jalapeño jelly in the fridge. Great video thanks y’all.
Wow!! I'm impressed!! I think I'm going to try this. I was wondering if the same can be done with the store bought Brown's yogurt? It's all natural yogurt as far as I know, now preservatives in it.
I Just found your channel and I never knew how easy could be to make cream cheese. I definitely need to give it a try. Can you please tell us how long does it keep good in the fridge?
Love your video’s. Have already made lots of yogurt and ready to make cream cheese but I have one question. How much sea salt did you add to the batch in your video (starting with 4 quarts of yogurt)?
Hi ya HT! Wow! That looks not only delicious but beautiful, and the wait, that’s gonna be torture having to wait 6/7 days b 4 it’s ready, I’d probably eat the whole thing n one day, yummy! Question...how long will it last n fridge before going bad????? Thank u
Use a 1 gallon nut milk bag. It will fit tightly over a cereal container. Snap the lid over the whole thing. A very neat package to sit as long as you wish in the fridge. Salting before straining is much easier. Make kefir for this, it has a much better probiotic profile. Find raw milk.
Question for ya, how long does the cream cheese last? I'm making the same amount as you did on the video and I'm wondering if my family will eat it all in time. They probably will, but I'd like to know how much time I have to get it eaten or gift it to friends and family if we can't finish it all
Hey, how much kosher salt? Again so knowledgeable!! You are my favorite to watch, I just came across to you tonight and been watching you for a couple hours!! 😘💜😅
that's about the best cream cheese I have seen, hope I find out how to make the yogurt, thank's for the video. I have been making Kefir cream cheese, but after day's I have to toss it. tks again Nicky
Now I want to make yogurt and cream cheese. Thank you for sharing. I've watched three of your videos and love them. I started watching with the sour dough starter. Thank you for answering my questions about why so many people are doing discards and feeding it every day. Now I need to hunt down a better wheat so I can start mine. Also our local Amish run a meat market and I am pretty sure I saw yogurt and butter milk in their shop so I'm thinking of using theirs as my seed\starter with my yogurt. Have you made these products with maybe half a gallon of milk instead of a whole gallon? I assume the process would be basically the same. I'm afraid if I make such a big batch that it would go to waste before we could eat and enjoy it all. The gut health benefits alone and how easy it looks to do, sold me in minutes. I'm so excited to try these out with my boys. I am a homeschool mom, who has raised garden beds, chickens and ducks running around. I was so excited to run across your page during my sour dough search. Thanks again!!
that looked freaking AWESOME ... what would you suggest for herbs for a garlic and herb cream cheese ? ... milk up here may not be as cheap as in the usa but for the cost of 8 packs of Philly worth of cream cheese it is sooooo worth it ... now i can have my garlic bagels with garlic n herb cream cheese at home for breakfast ;) ... just gotta find the yogurt video now too ;)
Girl! Thank you so much! I'm so excited to try this, but I'm so nervous that I'm going to mess up. I wish you could teach me in person. Haha! Do you do cooking classes?
How long do you let the yogurt sit before you make the cream cheese? I know you mention the yogurt getting thicker as it sits, so didn't know if that makes better cream cheese.
Gee, fun to watch. Is there any reason you can't add the salt at the beginning? Seemed dreary to have to blend it into the curds. Can't wait to try this!
Absolutely fantastic!! I found your yogurt video. Made that! Then took the next step and made your cream cheese. Then of course it was only a short step to Rich and thick New York style cheesecake topped with strawberries.. OMG!!! No place, No where,at any price, could I buy something so insanely delicious. Thanks for the vids! Great job! Time to make some more..
@@UtilaLodge1 Hi, The yogurt has that twang.. When I drained the whey the flavor became more mellow. As I aged the cream cheese for a few days the taste was delectable! More flavorful than bland store bought cheese. I really like the fullness of that flavor. You can add a bit of honey or agave nectar to move the flavor closer to sweet. Whatever you use to customize the flavor, add a little at a time. Let it rest. Check your flavor profile again. Hope this helps.
Enjoyed your straw bale planting vlog from 2015 and wondered if the saying on your shirt was a scripture verse. Going to try a straw bale garden this year. Straw bales around here cost $15 but my brother who lives and hour west can get them for $3.50. Lucky us.
I make a great cheeseball. Would love to do this and make my cheeseball! Yum! Btw...you could put the cheese in a jello mold or maybe even a bundt cake pan if you can figure out how to press. And, with milk at $1.07 a gallon? No-brainer!
Girl I made your yogurt and it was sooo CREAMY and easy..didnt even have a thermometer or cooler lol then I made cream cheese and holy shit it was BANGING.. Wow I was amazed how easy it was like no BULLSHIT it was easy as 1 2 3💖 thank u

I dehydrate the leftover whey for an unflavored protein powder. Great ideas!
