  • Is BC housing funding housing management organizations that don't do any maintenance and expect tenants to live in unlivable conditions? No regular landlord would get away with any of it, but apparently, the rules don't apply to BC Housing-funded housing? I have questions as a taxpayer; you should, too.

I also live in BC Housing and 2 weeks ago had a flood in my apartment it started on the 4th floor all the way through the 3rd, 2nd and 1st floor, I'm on the first floor and the fire department said my unit got it the worst. Water was coming through the ceiling fan, hallway closet, main bathroom and master bedroom, even through the light fixtures and water filled the light bulbs as well. I've been trying to get someone to come and fix all the walls, electrical outlets and carpeting as the walls and ceilings are cracking, the floor is coming up and the carpets smell of mold and the bedroom is inhabitable, and all I'm getting told is "we've heard nothing" it's been 2 weeks and repairs have not started and no one has inspected the unit, there's no communication with the tenants. And before moving into the new cedar place apartments my family and I were demovicted from the previous cedar place town houses and quite literally was told by BC Housing staff what personal belongings I could bring and what I couldn't. They also called me a difficult tenant and tell me that I'm in breach of my tenancy agreement. I'm interested in joining your fight against BC Housing, I also have loads of evidence as well and can get more people on board as my neighbors have issues with BC Housing as well.
