    I'm probably violating every rule Tim gas about shot guns. But I have a shotgun I call the box(holds 25 shells on the gun), the shotgun has a laser. Flashlight, aftermarket stock and rack. The concept is the grab it hide and hold on until the police arrive. That tactic changed after my kids moved back home and after I got better training. I think it is a reminder of how stupid I was.

      If we live through our youthful stupid and reckless times, we slow down and act much more rationally.
      Calling and waiting for LE is very much underrated ! I highly recommend it!

    how often do the folks showing up with all that stuff on their gun still have it all on there by the end of class?

      LoL that was me. Magnifiers on rifles are almost Pointless unless you need glasses. Long Range Precision guns excluded.

    I've got an old 870 police magnum that was a dashboard shotgun that has a 7 round side saddle on and that's it.

    Just a question because I don’t know, why aren’t we just turning on the lights in our homes if there’s an intruder? Even if we have the lights, attached or not and If we have the opportunity of course.

    Points are all well taken.
    Maybe you could expand the setup for a truck shotgun or a shotgun used for fighting purposes other than home defense?

    • @twiggybones7040
      @twiggybones7040 5 місяців тому

      In my mind fighting purpose is home defense. Maybe one fight is outside, the other is inside of your own home. One requires kit or gear, the other is fight with what’s in your gun and what’s on it.

      I'll consider your thoughts.
      However, 30 years of LE I have used and seen my share of shotgun use. All that was ever needed was an 870 with four in the mag and no additional kit was used.
      I am referring to fighting distances that might be more frequent such as the length and width of my car or a bit more.
      Guess my point is the fighting shotgun is great for home defense but it is really much more in the real world where fighting distances are actually really short and time restrictions are very short also.
      You will probably run out of time way before you run out of bullets/shells.
      Thanks for talking with me.

    Respectfully, you have a lot to learn regarding how much ammo for a shotgun. In the defensive role you need to consider that a trained breach team will start at 4 to 6 men and will trend up to as many 15 or 30 men. A simple 5 shot magazine may not be sufficient.
    Other items such as red dots, weapon lights, etc have thier places.
    If you still have concerns, ask the students to run your drills with a bare shotgun...then again with each mod.
    Best of luck,
    Phil

      You talking about NIBRS or UCR data suggesting home invasions happen more often in the daylight?

    • @unclegunz
      @unclegunz 5 місяців тому +1

      Respectfully. I think what Tim meant is most people are home at 3AM, and/or, a badguy will seldom invade during daylight when 'someone is home'. Weekends, holidays, and otherwise occupied.
