I was there that night. It transformed my life I was never the same after this evening. I was just a kid and Nick and the Bad Seeds scared the shit out of me. My high school history teacher took me to this show.
Thanks for upload...tracks 'Long Time Man', 'Train Long Suffering',(originals on 'YourFuneral,My Trial ' & 'Firstborn is Dead').... Line up ,dress & sound ..looks like 1988 'Tender Prey' era gig
the caveman was stonecold sober here. on tour without alcohol and drugs for the first time. you have to pay him tribute for that. it was an absolutely great unforgettable & amazing US-tour. furthermore the first bad seeds tour film "on the road to god knows where" was made during this 89 tour. also strongly recommendable!
@@blixarollins9115 okay! okay! he has temporarily cleaned up. he relapsed again afterwards. but I can definitely confirm that he was booze and drug free during this 1989 tour. he had a tour manager at the time, rayner jesson, who even worked as his personal chaperone. by the way, he didn't get completely sober in 1994 but rather in 1999 and has been living an abstinent life ever since!
amazing quality, thank you for posting this. I'd just like to note that this is actually Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, which included at the time the wonderful Kid Congo Powers.
Incredible clip from a long ago defunct lineup of Bad Seeds. Would love to have seen them during this time. Thank goodness for this pro shot recording of a lineup that will never, ever come together again, of songs that will probably never, ever be played live again! Thanks for posting.
Just here for Blixa’s hair and tight leather pants. It was an international tragedy when he retired those pants. 😂Seriously though, best band ever… Next to Einsturzende Neubauten. ❤
I think this was 88 in the fall. I think NC stopped the music and pointed to someone in the front row: "you are beginning to get on my nerves." Love KC's outfit and moves...who has more style?
Hello there, do you happen to have footage of any of the rest of the concert? It is great to see a gig, from this time, in such clarity, with several cameras.
Great upload! I was at this show. It was my first exposure to the wonderful world of Nick Cave. I had mainly gone to the show to see The Wolfgang Press and then got my mind blown. One moment I'll always remember was at some point Nick bummed a smoke, or in his words "a fag" off of somebody in the crowd and they handed him a clove cigarette. He lit that thing up and said...."what the fuck is this?" LOL Any chance you've got The Wolfgang Press footage also? Now that, would be something to see!
the weird thing though is that it is NOT Feb 8th - I have Feb 8th tape and Long Time Man in that show is followed by Jack's Shadow (not Train Long Suffering as it is here- a song not even featured on Feb 8th tape...). Considering they played Philly on the 7th and New York on the 10th (and records specify only 1 show at 9:30), I am sort of puzzled which gig this really is. In fact I just came across a review of the 9:30 show and it mentions that Nick was wearing a 'red tie' - I admit colors can look different in old footage, but still - his tie in this video is NOT red. EDIT:: ok, there are records of the 2nd show on Feb 9th - no setlist, no nothing - but it would have to be that gig.
allbearsrule I'll take your pedantic word for it, I was just trying to help (by telling you that 8/2/89 means February 8th, 1989 in most parts of the world, but to us goofy Americans it means August 2, 1989). Kinda like how we *also* refuse to join the rest of the world in using the metric system.
I was there! First of many Nick Cave shows - he's always amazing live

allbearsrule August 2nd -- Americans write the date different than everywhere else.
nothing to do with writing - Nick did not play US between March 1989 after this leg closed in California - and January 1990 when they were back in NY.
