    WHAT A PIECE! Have a huge soft spot for Berlioz. Recording not great but it's brought out a few details I've not noticed before. Thanks for posting.

    The acoustics are not the best, but still, they aren't bad. The camera pointing to the conductor the whole time is unimaginative, maybe the resources for better video weren't available. Regarding the performance, the conductor gets the tempos and the energy of the work just right. The tempo(s) are very close to the Colin Davis with the London Sym/Philharmonic performance recorded on a Philips LP many years ago and later reissued on CD. Bravo to Russell Gray for his splendid interpretation!

    phase invert one of the channels and the sound is much more accurate as to what was probably in the hall!

    For Berlioz at his most suffocatingly (in a good way) Romantic, the main theme... 4:54 - 5:41, 8:02 - 8:40, 10:30 - 11:12. It takes my breath away.

    That conductor should be coaching a football team but nobody her will understand it;

    The conductor keeps the flow going very well: better than some better-known maestros. Recorded sound not great though. And the display is s.t.r.e.t.c.h.e.d.
