Beautiful Russell. Thank you.
That conductor should be coaching a football team but nobody her will understand it;
the best
This man is so not appreciated as one of the finest cornet players of his time. Could listen to him play all day and night. Simply stunning
Where is the Kaboom?
Bravo.👏

Brilliant!
Imagine if someone rigged the trumpet to 💥explode
Really well played! One of my favorite cornet solos
Superb!

Fantastic playing Russell
Amazing sound and performance
Band was way behind
Loved it Russell and wonderful playing as usual from Ruth
Lovely, and congratulations to the pianist, a beautiful sympathetic accompaniment
Gorgeous...
Amazing :)
always a class act. brilliant
Superb... so rich.
Superb Russell; top class.
Still my all time favourite! That sound, the control.
Wow.Brilliant Russell.!
Absolutely brilliant as usual, Russell. Can I borrow some of the upper register please 🤣
Superb
Great playing mate.
Stunning. I've only ever heard this played on a flute.
Magnificent!
Finally the good old Endearing Young Charms presented as a song, and not as some virtuoso (?) trick as I get bored of each time (most by Euph players trying to impress us...NOT!) Thanks for the great playing Russell !
Superb! Bravo.
Great explanation and demonstration. And Angus is totally awesome!
Thanks Tom. Just put it up today. I will try to do a few more.
Good effort, but sounds like an off day for Russell.
very hard to play on the cornet. However well done russell
Enjoyed a brass band workshop taken by Russell Gray a few weeks ago, EXCELLENT value (& a nice guy to boot)!!
For Berlioz at his most suffocatingly (in a good way) Romantic, the main theme... 4:54 - 5:41, 8:02 - 8:40, 10:30 - 11:12. It takes my breath away.
mmmm
The conductor keeps the flow going very well: better than some better-known maestros. Recorded sound not great though. And the display is s.t.r.e.t.c.h.e.d.
phase invert one of the channels and the sound is much more accurate as to what was probably in the hall!
WHAT A PIECE! Have a huge soft spot for Berlioz. Recording not great but it's brought out a few details I've not noticed before. Thanks for posting.
The acoustics are not the best, but still, they aren't bad. The camera pointing to the conductor the whole time is unimaginative, maybe the resources for better video weren't available. Regarding the performance, the conductor gets the tempos and the energy of the work just right. The tempo(s) are very close to the Colin Davis with the London Sym/Philharmonic performance recorded on a Philips LP many years ago and later reissued on CD. Bravo to Russell Gray for his splendid interpretation!
A good performance but there is batter one. I love this piece and can listen over and over.
wow, how long ago was this??
goooooood!
