- Simple Minds discuss their upcoming show scheduled for Aug 13, 2022. It will be played against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle and include their classic ‘New Gold Dream‘ album played in full. All profits going to UNICEF FOR CHILDREN IN UKRAINE.

Simple Minds have been musical pioneers for 40 glittering years. Catching the mood of the post-punk era, when the angry sounds of 1977 were splintering into a thousand different shapes, they emerged with a style rooted in the art-rock of David Bowie and the electronic dance of Donna Summer. They went on to become one of the great bands of their generation, deploying rousing choruses and booming atmospherics to provide a soundtrack that has endured. They topped the American chart with Don't You (Forget About Me) and followed suit in the UK with the Ballad Of The Streets EP (featuring Belfast Child). In selling over 60 million records, they have seen three of their 20 studio albums reach number one in the UK - Sparkle In The Rain, Once Upon A Time and Street Fighting Years - a chart-topping feat equalled by their live album Live In The City Of Light and the compilation Glittering Prize. A spellbinding touring band, they have graced the world's biggest stadiums. They starred at Live Aid and played three momentous London shows in honour of Nelson Mandela. The past decade has also seen a remarkable resurgence, their world-class credentials acknowledged by a Q magazine Inspiration award in 2014 and an Ivor Novello in 2016. They are now marking their 40th anniversary with a world tour, live album and career-spanning compilation.
Wow, I'm so glad that even with their +40 years of career and with a lot of changes in the band, they still do this kind of stuff and they still do these concerts that are being amazing. I'm so proud of them in a certain way :')💞

I recall Paul McCartney praising Simple Minds back in the early 80s on The Tube...we saw them most recently at Glasgow Hydro a few months ago, what a night...and feel sure next Saturday 13th August will be a fitting celebration...looking forward to it...thank you for being Simple Minds! Scotland's finest. UPDATE: Saturday show was superb!!

I was 15 and Simple Minds were playing in Rome at the end of the eighties... what a deep regret not being there to listen to them live: I didn't find anyone to come along with me to that wonderful concert! When the Belfast child sings again...

I've always been a metal head, listen to a lot of jrock these years, but for me New Gold Dream is the most awesome song in the history of mankind. You can cross the entire galaxy in just 5 and a half minutes.

I think New Gold Dream is their best album. I’m not sure that Jim and Charlie will agree, because they were taking a new direction after this. Hunter & the hunter and Someone somewhere are their most underated songs. 💙

Simple Minds one of the greatest bands of ALL times I just hope Jim and Charlie to begin to workout since they are overweight , they would be much better if they are fit.

Not my Simple Minds anymore. To see them play the stuff, the creations, the instrument sounds of Michael Macneil, Derek Forbes and Mel Gaynor makes me really sad. With this 3 guys, that where definitely the best times. Full of power and raw energy. Now it's only a cover band with the original singer and guitarist.
