Don’t the SNCB/NMBS have other vehicles for the RE 29 service that they can use? It’s always a mess to drive in this old, often dirty and graffiti-grumped vehicles.

No the only train that's accepted by DB-Bahn are the AM66 /70

The SNCB/NMBS ordered 24 locomotives (Alstom Traxx third generation) which are equipped for Germany. They will run with already existing I11-coaches. They enter service in 2026.

I heard about a project to replace them by breaks (AM300) but I don’t know how far it is now. In any case a replacement will be needed as those old trusty AMs will be out of service by end 2025 at latest. There are again 3 of them that have been sent to the demolisher today.

​@@Brttrainz the new RE29 will be Aachen - Liège. Departure at Aachen at :37. Arrival :22. I think the S41 at veviers will drive to Aachen at December and the L to Spa ends in Veviers. It will be a Vectron with 4 L11.
