Thank you for these episodes on UA-cam. I love the English series that were filmed in Europe and outside the studio in the seventies and eighties.

Thank you very much for this. I was a little girl when it went on television. I did not understand too much of it at that time, however I could catch the atmosphere. It was good to see it as an adult.

Great classic indeed. I first saw this back in 1978 and I was 20 years of age, life had just begun so to speak. Looking back it was 36 years ago and this series does not looks like it had aged a bit. Found memories from my golden years, thank you sir for re-living the best years of my life.

Very good series. I watched it in 1985 in Poland and it was very popular as far as I remember. I hardly remembered that film however very well remember the soundtrack. Just finished watching all 8 parts here. Thanks for sharing,

Really amazing series and I am so grateful you took the time and effort in uploading then, I couldn't understand why the English actor playing Leandros played it so calmly but that is was essential to his character. I was also racking my brains out where else I saw him and then I remembered. He played the aristocratic father of Rodney Trotter's girlfriend in Only Fools and Horses. A mighty fine damn actor.

I saw this series as a young man and spent a holiday in Elounda a few years later. I remember having a drink at the terrace of the tavern, which really exists and makes publicity with pictures of the series.

Jack Hedley should have played Bond at some point in his prime. I have a feeling he came extremely close to resembling Fleming's original depiction.

I wish some of the great tv series like this, the Lotus Eaters, The Aphrodite Inheritance and a few more were on tv instead of the rubbish reality tv they keep on putting on.

Thanks very ,much German or Durchman for uploading this classic .
The BBC of today would have it taken down if it had been uploaded by an British account.
I have finished a bottle of wine to fully connect with this series such a classic in so many ways. What foreigners of today have to realise is the BBC of that era no longer exist they no longer make stuff like this but still charge people £120 a year to watch their modern rubbish we tax payers are not allowed a say in what they produce today never mind a referendum on licence fee .
Foreigners - please help us from the scum that is todays BBC
This series was tv for tv todays TV tries and fails to emulate the magnificence of the modern cinema ,

Wait until the beeb roll out the upcoming drama series about WW2 air raid wardens... Out of one and a half million, only one black warden served.. between 1939-45 and that was in London... yet the series is plastered with "wardens of colour"... as is the new Sunday night drama series coming our way soon, based on the life of ceramic artist Clarice Cliff, BBC specially advertised for Asian and black actors to apply for main roles..... I can just imagine kilns and potteries in Staffordshire and Stoke being bursting with Asian and Caribbean in the late 19th and early 20th century.... can't you.... Not!. Boxticking with folks money... total shite!

The trouble with this is that the dialogue, once we get to Crete, becomes utterly unconvincing and laughable. Are we supposed to believe that Haldane didn't mention his name, or his connection with the olive grove, within a few seconds of meeting the woman? He's supposed to be an English gentleman and he behaves like some geekish hobbledehoy. And she accepts this behaviour, perhaps on the grounds that it's charmingly mysterious LOL, and gives him some of her wine instead of prompting him for information - while he makes eyes at her and talks in vague riddles. Sorry, but no thanks :)

They were both lonely lost and bruised people nearing the twilight of their life , it's plausible that they could have been caught up in the moment as a pose to trying to rationalise their whole togetherness , since tinder dates did not exist and dictate human interaction back then :)
