If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbitl in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Even if he lies about the amount of money he made, his advice is still good.
Implement his advice in your life and see if they work.
Don't expect everything to work. He gives us so much of his knowledge for free. Even if he starts selling courses, I would buy them if they help me.
I have seen so many comments calling some other UA-camrs 'scammers' just because they sell courses.
These guys always expect things for free.
Why would anyone spend their precious time helping others without getting anything in return?

If it wasn't for Alex, I don't even know where I would be today. I am hoping all of you and the people in the video achieve their goals!
I went bankrupt but didn't enter bankruptcy. I lost everything. I was devastated because I lost my dream and felt like I made a huge mistake. I am still recovering financially but doing the business was the happiest I had ever been in my entire life. So although I lost it, I don't regret the happiest times.
In a world of "fluff" and general advice... it's so good that someone would actually give free game SPECIFIC to your situation... Thanks Alex...

She just needs to change her mindset from "I need to succeed" to "I need to test this". She is avoiding the feeling that she experienced in the past instead of embracing it. A wise thing to do would be for her to list 25 very specific benefits of how her last failure served her. Once she realised that last 'failure' was actually a good thing she will find it easier to embrace fear ahead and adopt the mindset of a scientist instead of Eminem who's only got one shot at life.
Barely 2 minutes in and Alex is dropping insane truth bombs already. Love it!
I can relate so much to the people in this video. So many times doubting myself, takings risks and doing stuff not knowing if it was going to work. The trick is to do it anyways and if it fails, well lesson learned, you learned what not to do. Perfect advice from Alex.

The real freedom in business occurs when you release future based concern and the fear of repeating the past.
That's where you become fully resources to view uncertainty as pure possibility instead of "what if i fail..."
Fully realizing that experiencing a 'failure' does not mean you are categorically a failure is soooo liberating.

I have been binging your videos lately, downloaded the PDF of your diet, doing your full body workout(calves up), and writing everything you say about business down(I remember things better when I write them down). We have a very similar upbringing and both left home to find who we are and not what our overbearing parent wanted us to be. I don't go home for Christmas, I don't speak to my old friends anymore. I am on a mission. Thank you for reinforcing the belief in what i am doing.

One thing for Alek: You asked "How do I keep it together?"
The answer is that you just don't. All you can do is count on the sun to rise everyday and keep doing what you can do, even if it's suboptimal. Those type of problems only time can heal and you have to let it do it's thing.
I talk about the sun specifically because the day after I got the news that my father passed away I remember feeling offended that the sun raised like nothing happend. Turned out that the sun not caring is a blessing, for time still ticking and life passing regardless of how fucked you have been makes you (kinda) forget how fucked you have been, then you get to do your thing (even if it's a little sloppy)
