The HISTORY OF THE LAPEL Guard, Lapel Passing and now WORM WRESTLING

- In this video we'll take a stroll down memory lane and talk about how the lapel game has evolved to transcend the guard. How and why passing and wrestling got added to the system. It's like a documentary, but actually interesting.
The Lapel Encyclopedia, the codification of all of Keenan's Lapel knowledge is somewhat of a premium instructional. During this pandemic, which is especially difficult for the jiu jitsu sphere we've reduced the price by almost 110 dollars. You can grab it for $141.99 and study the lapel systems while you plot your return to the mats and cry yourself to sleep, damn I miss training so much.
What you will get is: 3 Chapters explaining the concepts, setups and escapes if things go wrong. 8 Chapters covering the lapel guards (worm, ringworm, squid, reverse de la worm, gubber, single leg x worm, belt guard...). 1 Chapter covering the lapel passing system that Keenan used to defeat Meregali at worlds. Yesterday we added another chapter on Worm wrestling, a series of 21 videos explaining how to turn sweeps or passivity into takedowns.
You will also get all future updates, a free app with downloadable videos, ebooks, custom playlists...

Well.... looks like Im gonna help Keenan buy his second Tesla
Muito obrigado pelo conteúdo que você tem em seu canal.
É um excelente material.
The video quality on this is amazing.
Thanks, this is the same quality as Chapter 14 and all future updates. We want to have production quality so high that it raises the bar for the industry of aggressive hugging instructional. - The other guy in the video

Stay tuned for a new style of competition matches under the domain of the Worm Wrestling Federation or perhaps Worm Wrestling Entertainment
Im glad you came back Keenan! There was like a milisecond around :39.03 and :39.08 that I got worried!
it's been my first month of bjj and I am barely navigating through techniques at this stage, most of the time struggling but playing with the repel actually started giving me some advantage over the more experienced guys every now and then at least for a short while which is amazing.
I hope John Danaher will do a DVD about how to counter the lapel guard system
Oh damn your reaction when seeing Keenan released it himself 😲😲😲!
It's pretty easy, just stand up.
...a word from our sponsor, myself kkkk
Besides being a great jiu jitsu player you are very funny kkkkkk. Regards from Brazil
I used this technique in class an had the guy tied up so bad he couldn't move. Love it.
Mr. Chance doing the video quality Justice 😎👍
Excellent video Keenan ! Keep going !!
Ad for Galvao's Lapel/ Modern Guard passing instructional shows up before this video plays
Keenan helping with the implosion of the gi game. We need a JT Torres history on how to smash the Worm Guard. 😂
I respect all your achievements and big fan of yours, allowing the foot on the hips and allowing the lapel to the opponent gives me all kinds of trouble. Not going to lie even when I got a clear understanding to keep those missteps from happening it still frustrates my flow when they get that lapel. I've never incorporated this into my game but how flexible and athletic do you need to be to really understand these mechanics. I'm 50 and got 10 years training in
I'm waiting for Keenan's statement on the berimbolo Gimenez applied on him.
TAKE MY MONEY
Haha Never catch me in NOGI with this Keenan, but when you told me it wasn't meant to impress me but impress upon me that's when I knew I'd just buy a hyperfly gi and pretend I was you.
The power of the worm!
How do we buy the shirt?

any lapel guard from butterfly... butterworm or wormfly or.. ok im done.
Keenan please lapel passing counters. I dont know what to do when using my lapel for pass my guard, am stock. How to break that grip from my guard against strong oponents??
Love your work at bjjscout
2:50 & 4:47 - how concerned are you about opponents going for footlocks and does your answer change if the ruleset allows reaping?
1:18 ringworm, worm, reverse dela worm guards
This worm passing is some next level shit Brother K Corn! Thanks!
Hello Keenan Cornelius i want to invest time in your guard system but i don't know where to start! I just got my purple belt and my guard suck! 😂 Anyway thanks for the amazing work you do and good luck with your futures competitions. Thanks to Miha too!
It's really easy to find start: Chapter 1, Lapel Encyclopedia. lapelguard.com
@@mihaperhavec341 thanks for the advice! 🙏🏾
Lapel guard is literally my lifeline against higher belt levels. Literally evens out the playing field unless they are familiar with it.
"Re ignited my love of the lapel" K C 202
I like Keenan, but I dislike the lapel stuff, and for that reason I hope the top guys can keep beating him so we have more video of lapel guard being beaten.
one two train no gi then
@@FFTuk I do both. The lapel stuff is only one part of gi jiu jitsu thankfully. I'm not actually even totally against it tbh, I just don't see why anyone would want to base their whole game around it.
lol, I'm the opposite xD. I'm skeptical about his personality, but watching this is intriguing me a lot about his lapel system. It looks like he's hogtying people with their own gi's and seems very interesting. It's like Hojojutsu basically lol.
Your a dweeb, if you don’t like manipulating the gi than just do no gi
I’ve got to be honest coming from a wrestler I never want to/ get to play guard. I just refuse to pull guard. After watching this I’m going to get your instructional and start playing guard in competitions. I’ve been told my guard is really good. I just usually don’t feel confident enough in competitions to play it. I think the lapel game will give me that confidence! Thanks bro!
Wrestlers make good guard players. The same principles we learned from high school apply just the same as on bottom
A B thanks bro, and yea I’m learning that. Lol I told my coach next comp I may pull guard so I can actually play it 😂. He just said well hell ya bru you’ll kill it. So I’ve gotta give it a shot
Show de aula 💪
Keenan....what size is that GI you're wearing? i just bought an A2L...
Take. My. MONEY!
Keenan, how about techniques that use your own gi? Have you done anything with that?
He’s done canero guard. 👍
So what you're saying is The Lapel System is to Jujitsu what Zerg Rush was to StarCraft?
worm wrestling looks like it's got a bit bernardo faria half guard flavour?
Anyone know what go Keenan has?
Great stuff, I cannot wait until I am a black belt and go all in on these new concepts. I really want to avoid all of these (great) new things until I can function without them. None of this works in no gi.
Wait...where can I buy that shirt? I want that shirt.

Gimme that damn shirt

I wanna see Keenan roll with Jocko Willink!
Why
I'm curious about the usefulness of this set of techniques in a self-defence setting. Could this work on sweaters and hoodies, or is this more of a sport jiujitsu thing?
I like the production on this video, and the content. Thanks.
Will Farmer sport jiu jitsu. If you’re more interested in self defense I’d suggest no gi, not to say that both don’t have their place. However gi jiu jitsu is not always the most practical for extrapolating into self defense scenarios
For sweeps yes. But I wouldn't rely on it for submissions or when the opponent has distance. And there could be a factor of risk when trying submissions because normal clothes rip so you may end up losing control. But if they're wearing a winter jacket thats basically a gi
Dude gi jiu jitsu is not for self defense it’s just sport.
@@johnmick4980 that sounds very black and white.
Bring back body slams, problem solved.
Is dudes real name “mi ha” or are you just calling him “my child” in Spanish
