I've been a HUGE Jubilee fan since she first appeared in comics and it really bothers me that they can never get her right in the movies. They FINALLY got her look right in this last one, but her part was so small, you never got any sense of her personality, and you never saw her powers. They may as well have just hung a poster of her on the wall for as much as she contributed to this movie, which is really disappointing.
According to Emma Frost, Jubilee was one of the most powerful mutants she had ever encountered, but noted that her fear of harming others kept her from using those powers to their full potential. Jubilee was also undetectable by Sentinels and their mutant tracking equipment, as well as by telepaths such as Psylocke. The true nature and extent of this power are still a mystery.
according to the earlier comics, jubilee was not even asian. well...i guess if we can have trans-genders, why can't we have people changing their races? if a big black dude wants to be an asian nerd because he felt he was born in the wrong body, i think he should be allowed to change his race to become an asian! jubilee is probably not even asian, but a trans-racial? oh the most powerful? nah... emma frost was just plain wrong just like she was wrong about many things.
I don't know why people hate on Jubilee. She's a really cool superhero and can shoot explosive light out of her hands. She also has some of the coolest outfits of the X-Men. I've always liked Jubilee and will no matter what the haters say.
I am. I am a huge fan of Jubilee it's not because she's my favorite X-Men mutant that's why I watched classic X-Men cartoon growing up, Jubilee is the best marvel female character ever. But Shadowcat and Jubilee are my favorite X-Men female characters. I would want to see Jubilee in a bigger role in X-Men Movie on a big screen but I did saw Shadowcat appeared in X-Men 3 and Days of Future Past. I Think It Would Be Awesome To See Jubilee in a bigger role on big screen.
What's even funnier is that once upon a time Wolverine, a white heterosexual North American cis-male, was considered a part of the X-Men diversity because he is Canadian.
Robin Ludvig Isomaa To be fair, he kinda started out as an actual mutated wolverine in human form 'till they ditched that idea. :P Pretty sure at the time they were going for diversity in terms of representation of nationalities, what with a Kenyan, a Russian, a German, an Irishman and a Japanese member joining the group around the time as opposed to the original all American line-up.
Robin Ludvig Isomaa I wish people would stop with all this "cis" nonsense. It is redundant language. It would be like if you said, "a white *caucasian* .. male..." Considering trans-sexual issues account for far less than even 1% of the population and trans-gender/lgb issues less than 2 to 5% depending upon the area, it strikes me as odd that people would even include this in discussions regarding "diversity". Shouldn't we accurately represent society if our goal is to give an accurate depiction of its components in media? Since there have been about 95 to 100 or less "X-men" over the time of the comics, that would then mean to have more than one member with any difference from the sexual norms would stray from statistical odds and would need to be supported by the character's story or backstory or something unique about the character's mutant physiology or abilities. And, yet, there are several X-men who are or might be gay/bi in preference or can shapeshift or more. I think those who have written for X-men, especially more recently, are far too liberal with the inclusions of this sort of thing, although they at least handle it a little better than other media. By the way, Wolverine added a certain tough straight forward charm that the X-men were sorely lacking, so I think he did add to the depth of the team.
Love Jubilee. She kinda brings out the kid in me. Loved Alyson Court voicing her in the awesome X-Men Animated Series. Wish she got more screen time in the films though.
Many of us were introduced to the X-Men through her in the 90's cartoon. I believe she's a well-executed example of the Naive Newcomer trope. Here's hoping that she lights up the stage again in the future.
Man, what a great character. I loved her in the X-MEN comics, and as Wolverine's sidekick / second " adopted daughter ( much like Kitty Pryde ) . A awesome character that deserves her due.

She's aware of just how powerful that ability is and she is so terrified of hurting an innocent person she purposefully holds her self back to such a degree that basically the most you see out of her is basic fireworks. yes, good sir, i think i am THE Jubilee fan lmao. i like jubilee a lot. her humor is very genuine and almost "nerdy" at times and i cant help but love the Wolve+Jubes combo
Jubilee is one of my all-time favorite X-men. I adore the dynamic between her and Logan...the one that somehow bece Logan and Rogue in the films. Dammit Fox.
I liked Jubilee when I 1st saw her on the x-men's 90's animated cartoon series. They used her pretty well as an "introductory" character, who the fans could see the X-men world through her eyes during the 1st episodes. It was cool that they made her Chinese, but kind of racist giving her "fireworks" for powers. I still like her, but she's not really doing crap in the comics & I thinks she's a vampire now (how lame).
She still does stuff in the comics, she's currently a member of an all female x-men team led by Storm and go on and do the usual x-men stuff, and she's doing all of this while acting as a single mother for her adopted child.
Rick Jones Oh that's cool. But if she lost her "fireworks" I don't think she'll be the Jubi I fell in love with. A vampire though? Seriously? She needs to get her "fireworks" back & they need to be used more creatively, like her being able to turn herself invisible (hence the reference to her having some type of cloaking ability in the GenX tv movie) or create holograms and holographic clones of herself. Jubes fighting skills need to be almost on par with Psylocke, if not at the very least Shadowcat.
I honestly thought the vampire twist was some lame editorial mandate to try and appeal to the Twighlight crowd and decided it was an equally lame decision. After all, Marvel doesn't so much jump the shark as build a permanent helicarrier above the shark. Then I actually read some of it. At first, I still wasn't impressed. The issues covering her change and initial coming to grips with it felt rather throw away. But it didn't take long for her true character to rise to the surface again. The issues that followed really emphasized her lust for life and compassion that made her who she was, all the more important now that they conflict with her "vampire instincts". She's since become best friends with X-23, due to Jubilee being the first peer she's met that genuinely understands what it's like to instinctively see the world as squishy murder-sacks and suppressing that feeling in order to lead a semi-normal life. They show genuine and entertaining chemistry, something I rarely see with X-23. Unusual circumstances have also lead her to adopt an infant, and they've used him as a means to further exemplify her finer qualities as a character. We see that she's grown up into a young woman and is all the stronger for it. Never has their been a vampire so caring or a member of the undead so full of life. One of the writers up there obviously recognizes that whether human, mutant or vampire, Jubilee is still Jubilee.
Good synopsis man. Yea, I kind of figured they were doing that, kind of like they have this whole MARVEL ZOMBIE stuff. Well hopefully Jubes will get her "fireworks" back & lose the whole vampirism thing. I like X-men because it's about mutant, not supernatural creatures. And Jubes was 1st introduced as a mutant, so ultimately she needs to return to form. It actually does make a lot of sense for Jubes & X-23 to be besties, because let's face it, Jubes has that whole "Wolverine" is so cool type mentality (at least she did in the cartoon). And it's nice that the writers are finally fleshing out a good personality for X-23 (the whole she's a "cutter" thing was a bit alarming, but cool, since she has claws & heals...however it wasn't doing much in terms of her overall character development).
She was always my favorite when I watched the 90's cartoon. I had forgotten her name in recent years, though. I've just been calling her Sparkles McGee.
I 1st watched Jubilee on The X-Men Animated Series on FOX Saturday Morning. Next to Gambit, she influenced my style & taste for short sleeve long coats which I still use to this day. To me, floor length trenchcoats are the new cape. As a fellow mallrat & avid Gamer, I'd be elated to hang out with her if she wants. I don't care what anyone says...her fireworks are kickass & not to be trifled with. Anyway, thanks for the nostalgia.
I was so pissed when they had her do NOTHING in the xmen apocalypse. Like she was hanging out with the main characters but didn't even fight at the end because she got "knocked out" like wtf
always liked her, i heard she did very well in the comics. I love if they made a movie around her, as long as they don't crew it up. Some people didn't like her in 90s cartoon but i felt she was just a teenager going through things. We all been teenagers so we have some ideas what teenagers act like and what they go through. So don't judge how she acts too harshly

3:23 In the "Generation X" tv movie they had a white actress play Jubilee when in the comics she is a Asian American. 3:31 They showed this accurately in the X-Men films. When will they quit it with white-washing already?
Luckily like dragon ball evolution that pilot was tresh, but yeah the hell Hollywood! I saw the Animated Series just fine and didn't shut it off because there was an Asian person on!
+Ocelotl Chimalpahin well I have good news, despite marvel movies white washing (psylocke,Manserion, Silk in the canceled amazing spider man 3, which as silk being my fave comic book character I am happy that did not happen), DC castes the right ethnicity for Suiside squad (Mexican is playing a Mexican El Dealbu, Canadian-Japanese is playing a Japanese Katana)
+Ocelotl Chimalpahin yes but silk was supposed to be played by some white brunette girl in her 30s, so I am happy it got booted, my top choice for silk is piper Curda is 1.both are Korean 2.both are young 3. She is athletic 4.one of only 3 people to not go insane after Disney channel 4. She is a good actress (even for the lousy script Disney channel gave her, I have a 10 year old sis so I had to watch the show she was in with her, she was the only good about it), my runner up is Jennie Mai followed by Karen Fukahawa(not likely due to DC contract) what are your pics?
Jubilee has such potential as a character but the writers have always went the safe route. She has the ability to easily blow off most of marvel characters' heads.
I was a fan of Jubilee, in the cartoon series... but after watching this... Urge, what a waste. There's no story to her. At least the cartoon gave her a story and a family
There is plenty of story to her they just breezed over most of it. Especially the more recent events that have her losing her mutant powers, becoming a vampire, and adopting an infant son.
I was the target demographic when the Saturday morning show hit and it was my first introduction into the X-Men universe. I originally thought she was part of the main team so, yes, I am a fan.
Greater then. Jubilee's original power was creating/control/absorb plasma and could potentially explode matter on the sub atomic level. Never used her power to the full extent tho, hence the general "meh" about her.
Dazzler can manipulate photons to do everything from shooting lasers, concussive blasts, use photons as propellant for flight, bend visual perception for perfect disguises and virtual invisibility, create constructs out of light like any of DC's Lantern Corps, use light for subliminal messaging and hypnotism etc.
+Lasna34 Actually Rogue is pretty damn powerful. And Cyclops can take down tanks, aircraft, blow up buildings, etc, with his optic blasts (so he's not as useless as Jubilee). : )
***** Dazzler can manipulate photons to do everything from shooting lasers, concussive blasts, use photons as propellant for flight, bend visual perception for perfect disguises and virtual invisibility, create constructs out of light like any of DC's Lantern Corps, use light for subliminal messaging and hypnotism etc. Her powers are extremely potent.
Jubilee is the worst and an annoying character. I never understood why the cartoon even bother focusing on this character, honestly. could somebody explain this to me?
she is a gateway character into the world of the xmen mainly for kids of the 90s.........Kitty Pyrde served this role in the 80s basically a young character new to the xmen and trying to find there place among there ranks....if you look it at like that I think it makes some sense.
TheOriginalRevolt everything isn't going to appeal to everybody but that said that was the purpose behind her featuring so heavily...I personally didn't mind her but others may I think because xmen is also supposed to represent a school and not just a generic superhero team they wanted a young face that represented that era.
Uh, she was a pretty useful potential omega-level mutant in the comic books before she lost her powers. Now, she's useful badass vampire in the comics.
they didnt give ALL of her history...Jubilee was trained by Wolverine to fight and she is now a vampire .... Wolverine's fighting style and superstrength plus she has Wolverine's blood so she can heal from sun exposure
any jubilee fans out there he says, from looking through the comments so far it seems im the only one. ive got her first appearance and everything gen x (wish they'd release the movie on dvd) but dont have the wolverine issue mentioned.
Depressing when you understand how strong of a character she is. You can dedicate a whole series of movies just for her. Not just strong in powers but as an individual and how compassionate she is.....
Correct me if any of these already exist but I would love to see a super hero/super villain origins about Red Hood (Jason Todd, Batman's second side kick) Union Jack (A lesser-known Marvel character) Deadshot (Batman villain) This isn't a really a super hero, but Optimus Prime or Bumblebee Any of these exist?
I first saw her on X-Men The Animated Series on Fox kids in 1992. It was the best animated series MARVEL ever did. Before Craig Kyle came to Marvel and fucked it all up by making all their animation target little kids instead of teenagers the was X-MEN T.A.S. did on Fox kids in the early 1990s. To this day, it is Marvel's best animated series ever! I loved it! I collected comic books a few years later and ended up picking the issue she was in where Sabertooth molested her. That book sold like crazy! The 1990s were my favorite era of comics. Especially when Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane and many other left marvel to form IMAGE COMICS! SPAWN and Youngblood were my life back then! But yes, I remember Jubilee quite well. She is cool.

Ah yes, Jubilee. The only X-Men member that the movie franchise somehow forgot about.
How about Gambit? He's so much cooler power in my taste!
They used Gambit in one of the X-Men movies though (I want to say it was First Class but it might have been X-Men Origins Wolverine)

Couldn't help it!
yes, good sir, i think i am THE Jubilee fan lmao. i like jubilee a lot. her humor is very genuine and almost "nerdy" at times and i cant help but love the Wolve+Jubes combo
too short... they left out some things about her... like she didn't kill her parent killers or why she was afraid to use her full powers!!!
+Manuel Sacha Exactly!!!
Jubilee is one of my all-time favorite X-men. I adore the dynamic between her and Logan...the one that somehow bece Logan and Rogue in the films. Dammit Fox.
No mention of her becoming a vampire?
I wondered that too.
+Zyx Whitewind Why do people think this is a character overview, her being a vampire has nothing to do with her ORIGIN.
Darren Josef Kho And yet they mentioned everything that happens with her _after_ her origin except the vampire storyline.
right.
There has been a shit ton of thing that has happened to her. If they were gonna mentioned EVERYTHING: An hour video would not be enough.
Darren Josef Kho Sigh. Point. Missed.
I screamed when this came on jubilee is my fav
also......now in the comics Jubilee is a vampire
Growing up watching Fox Kids X-Men, I didn't know that Jubilee wasn't popular. She was always fun to me
I liked Jubilee when I 1st saw her on the x-men's 90's animated cartoon series.
Jubilee. One of my favs during the 90s
I love jubilee!! one of my favorite x men behind gambit. i wish the movies did more with her!
Royal Flush Gang please.
She was always my favorite when I watched the 90's cartoon. I had forgotten her name in recent years, though. I've just been calling her Sparkles McGee.
she is like Rattata, it's good, but is not a Charizard
But charizard isn't a mewtwo
A level one rattata can beat a lvl 100 arceus if it has the right moves...
or a bulky machamp
can also beat arceus
also what set for the rattatatta
i took ratata as the example of he ultimate underrate
aww no rat scrub cratos
I 1st watched Jubilee on The X-Men Animated Series on FOX Saturday Morning. Next to Gambit, she influenced my style & taste for short sleeve long coats which I still use to this day. To me, floor length trenchcoats are the new cape. As a fellow mallrat & avid Gamer, I'd be elated to hang out with her if she wants. I don't care what anyone says...her fireworks are kickass & not to be trifled with. Anyway, thanks for the nostalgia.
super hero origins: The Full Metal Alchemist
"Are you a fan of Jubilee? There must be one of you out there" .
...awesome. :)

Superhero Origins: *The Shadow*
Superhero origins: new warriors

Superhero origins: Psylocke. Please

Been rewatching the 90s show
3:23
In the "Generation X" tv movie they had a white actress play Jubilee when in the comics she is a Asian American.
3:31
They showed this accurately in the X-Men films. When will they quit it with white-washing already?
Luckily like dragon ball evolution that pilot was tresh, but yeah the hell Hollywood! I saw the Animated Series just fine and didn't shut it off because there was an Asian person on!
+Ocelotl Chimalpahin well I have good news, despite marvel movies white washing (psylocke,Manserion, Silk in the canceled amazing spider man 3, which as silk being my fave comic book character I am happy that did not happen), DC castes the right ethnicity for Suiside squad (Mexican is playing a Mexican El Dealbu, Canadian-Japanese is playing a Japanese Katana)
david Lewis Silk was going to be in AMS3???
Sad that DC wins out in just one way... :/
So she's Dazzler-lite?
unlike Dazzler Jubilee can actually cause damage to certin things and people
Think of Jubilee's mutant powers as fireworks. They're pretty to look at, but they can hurt
Beast Lee so those blast that Dazzler creates don't do jack?
if parents live in marvel universe...they become villains.
Jubilee, the most irreverent X-men.
LOL, agreed.
+Lasna34
Nah, it's because she's just lame. : )
+Lasna34
Actually Rogue is pretty damn powerful.
And Cyclops can take down tanks, aircraft, blow up buildings, etc, with his optic blasts (so he's not as useless as Jubilee). : )
+Robert Wayne Deffenbaugh she's is considered one of the top mutants, but she refuses to use her powers
+Robert Wayne Deffenbaugh have you got hit in the face with a firework before
Colossus and Rogue please. Also, please do a countdown of Lindsey Sterlings best songs.
Worst superhero lol
If you recognize her as that then you obviously don't know anything of what she's actually capable of.
Why do you say Jubilee is the worst superhero?
***** Dazzler can manipulate photons to do everything from shooting lasers, concussive blasts, use photons as propellant for flight, bend visual perception for perfect disguises and virtual invisibility, create constructs out of light like any of DC's Lantern Corps, use light for subliminal messaging and hypnotism etc.
Her powers are extremely potent.
Non comic books fan need not apply their stupid opinions. THAT MEANS YOU JACK!
***** Why would they display Dazzler's powers in this video? lol
OMG that ending. "Are you the fan of Jubilee? There must be one of you out there." LMAO XD
Jubilee is the worst and an annoying character. I never understood why the cartoon even bother focusing on this character, honestly. could somebody explain this to me?
Agreed.
OMG co-sign! I don't get all the adoring fans, for what? Fireworks?!?!
she is a gateway character into the world of the xmen mainly for kids of the 90s.........Kitty Pyrde served this role in the 80s basically a young character new to the xmen and trying to find there place among there ranks....if you look it at like that I think it makes some sense.
CAM8689 I'm a kid of the 90s and I didnt then and still do not get the appeal.
TheOriginalRevolt
everything isn't going to appeal to everybody but that said that was the purpose behind her featuring so heavily...I personally didn't mind her but others may I think because xmen is also supposed to represent a school and not just a generic superhero team they wanted a young face that represented that era.
Cable was always my favorite mutant.
thee most useless mutant and useless watch mojo ever! *blows brains out*
Uh, she was a pretty useful potential omega-level mutant in the comic books before she lost her powers. Now, she's useful badass vampire in the comics.
Bitch key word POTENTIAL she still is ass
KID Lee She was still useful then, and still useful now as a vampire.
somebody's a fan boy! is that because the thumbnail for the video gave you a chub chub?
Euan Not really a fan boy, just giving credit where credit is due. You can't really say someone is useless when they aren't.
The Jubilee I Love Was The Jim Lee 90's outfit
AKA the most useless xmen or most boring
they didnt give ALL of her history...Jubilee was trained by Wolverine to fight and she is now a vampire .... Wolverine's fighting style and superstrength plus she has Wolverine's blood so she can heal from sun exposure
The hell she is.
DUDE SHE WENT SENTINEL RIDING IT WAS AWESOME
nope, dazzler is most useless
Marko Mlinarević Not really. In terms of her powers yeah, but she's one of the mutants that people love. Good publicity.
any jubilee fans out there he says, from looking through the comments so far it seems im the only one. ive got her first appearance and everything gen x (wish they'd release the movie on dvd) but dont have the wolverine issue mentioned.
She has Always been one of my favorites
Depressing when you understand how strong of a character she is. You can dedicate a whole series of movies just for her.
Not just strong in powers but as an individual and how compassionate she is.....
"Are you the fan of Jubilee? There must be one of you out there."
Oh, burn.
She used to be a mutant, now she's just a vampire. So she can do the 'fireworks' thing anymore.
I wish she still have her fireworks thing
Imma put Jubilee in my fan fic and make here a vigilante that uses small fireworks as weapons
Here name is Jubilation and her code-name is Jubilee? Definitely creative.
Jumping spider down a wall. Hang from the top of a building. Push off lightly. And kinda rock in. Do all the way down the wall.
AHHH JUBILEE PROFESSOR X's Aisian Princess I Lllllooovvve her so...
I loved jubs since the 90's cartoon.
Correct me if any of these already exist but
I would love to see a super hero/super villain origins about
Red Hood (Jason Todd, Batman's second side kick)
Union Jack (A lesser-known Marvel character)
Deadshot (Batman villain)
This isn't a really a super hero, but Optimus Prime or Bumblebee
Any of these exist?
Well, she was a good assist character in MvC1!!
✦ THE FIREWORKS!! ✦
'a mall rat with the power of sparkles' -screen junkies LOL
One of my Super ladies right here. Storm, The Cat, and Mary Jane are my other 3. The cartoon MJ though, not Kirsten Dunst. Kirsten still kool though.
hey, what's this "at least one of you" crack about, WatchMojo? buggers, I love Jubilee, she rocks my socks
I loved it!
I collected comic books a few years later and ended up picking the issue she was
in where Sabertooth molested her.
"Are you the fan of Jubilee? There must be one of you out there..."
That made my day a little better :)
magma is better than jubilee.
sujay venkatesh I find Jubilee better.
That's the most 90's backstory ever.
I lover her! I'm a totally Jubes fan! And I miss her powers!
