Kelty Backroads Shelter Short Review

We give a short review of the Kelty Backroads Shelter from our recent trip to Big Bend National Park. Rain, wind and cold temps, it did well. Check out the video for more info.

I just picked one up from REI on sale a few weeks ago and this thing is fantastic! I dont have that nice of a rig but this thing is like a spare room. I saw a propane tank running in, did you have a heater and if so how did it hold heat? Keep on camping!

yes we had the heater in there and it held heat very well.

Is there a reason your propane tank is outside the shelter? Because I was planning on keeping mine inside to keep it out of the weather but it hasn't occurred to me there could be a good reason to not do that. Does the tank need to be kept dry? Because that was my concern. I thought any fumes would dissipate but now I'm thinking about the video I saw about a tank blowing up in somebody's yard. It was a doorbell camera recording and it left an impression 😳

the only real reason is because we wanted the propane tank as far away from the open flame as possible.

Is the floor area big enough for a full size cot?
