Putin slams West’s "reckless" sanctions on Russia, blames US for global food crisis

- Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a combative speech on Friday at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, saying that Russia's economy had weathered Western sanctions imposed after Moscow's intervention in Ukraine.
Putin accused the United States of treating other countries as "colonies," and said gloomy forecasts for the Russian economy had not been fulfilled.
He also described European sanctions on Russia as “reckless” and as a “double-edged sword,” detailing economic losses the European Union (EU) has suffered from imposing sanctions on Russia.
The Russian president blamed the U.S. for the global food crisis and reaffirmed his country’s obligations to boost production and increase exports to countries in most need.
Amid a lengthy denunciation of the United States and its allies, Putin said: "Nothing will be as it used to be in global politics."

Everybody should read the whole putin speech. I was very surprised that he was right in all points. I never expected this.

The Ukrainian Army was not at war with the Donbas region until Moscow started deploying it's troops to Crimea in 2014 and flooding the Donbas Oblast with military grade weapons. Arming sepreatist malitias... Russia started this war by annexing Ukraine's internationally recognized territory which Moscow itself had recognized after the fall of the Soviet union in 1991.

Last time I've checked Russia's economy mostly rely on exporting their natural ressources so having strong Ruble isn't that much of a good thing because that mean that the local company who export said goods have less money to pay their employees within Russia. Its basic economics you can check it out for yourself. China has been manipulating their currency for decades to make sure it stays low to maximize their exports. Now, if Russia was *importing* more goods and ressources such as gold, it would make more advantageous deals for them since this concept goes in both ways.
But in any case, Russia is still having a big unemployement and inflation due to the ongoing sanctions. Plus, we might have a worldwide recession coming our way in the near future which mean the price of gas and oil might crash. Russia might not be ready for that when it'll happen.
