This is line dancing. I never saw The Hustle done this way and I wish I had a nickel for every Disco I was in during the 70's. The Hustle was done with a pair mirroring each others exact step and dance move during the song. It took work and was a wonderful thing to watch when done right.
I am watching while smiling and doing the steps while in my seat as best I can visualizing more mobility. There are different versions of the Hustle dance and they are all good and uplifting. Thank you for this one.

Ditto. Total embarrassment here but learning to dance The Hustle was part of our PE class back then. I distinctly recall foot over/behind other while moving to the side, then clap. Also spinning around then clap. Not a great description. This dance reminds me more of The Madison from the original Hairspray movie.
I remember having to do this dance in high school for a passing grade and it was in a crowded gym with over 100 people, boy I tell you was one of the funniest things I've ever been through, some overweight girl in front of me high heels broke😂image that being in a crowded area, I couldn't stop laughing but got the passing grade

They're Filipinos, the persom in the background is talking in Tagalog. 😁 And the Hustle was a very popular dance in the Philippines in the 70s and 80s. This maybe a dance class of old (but great) school dances.

However, I remember at the end of each round (before changing directions) we would tap our toe twice to the front, twice to the back, once front, once back, once to the side, then change directions to do the dance again.

There's no charisma here. You need the clothes, the appreciation of the era, some coke in the bathroom (kidding!), and style. These people just aren't into it. John Travolta was into it. The other other perfect dancing I've seen was Rosie Perez during the opening credits of Do The Right Thing. It wasn't The Hustle but she was invested in that 1000%.
