    YO HEIR!!.. A few roman tips:).. Cities like Constantinople, Alexandria, Ailia Capitolina (modern day Jerusalem), Antioch, etc.. They have that Little golden cross next to their name called 'Pentarchy See'.. These cities are special to christians( Latin, Greek and Arian), meaning that non-christians cant build religious Buildings there and christian factions can build a special branch known as 'Patriarchal' churches, which are better than regular churches.. so if you have a city with the pentarchy see in your province, then that specific city will be ideal for Building your religious Buildings in.. Also, there are a couple of Technologies in your tech tree which, once researched will disable some of your starting Technologies.. so for example, if you plan on Building a level 4 library or amphitheatre, then you have to finish Building them before you research those new Technologies that disables them, mouse over them to read which ones have these effects.. Also, you should probably consider pulling your army in dardania back to help protect either greece or thracia, because Dardania is almost certain to be doomed, due to provincial instability from hordes and raiders, they tend to like that particular province.. Lastly, it would be a good idea to put some new people in as governeurs, and then adopt them into your Family, i think it costs 50 influence, but its a good way to kickstart your influence generating and i think both your Family members start with enough points to make an adoption, meaning you can have all for governeurs in your family, making politics a lot easier to control from the beginning.. you should also try to find a wife for your Brother, perhaps the western romans have a daughter available, or maybe one of your two puppet states have one:)..

      Get a wife from Armenia. When Sassanid relations break down and war is declared ON you Armenia fights for you. Also both the starting family members are TERRIBLE GOVERNORS. Eutropius and the Aegyptus general are good at governing. Place Eutropius as Aegyptus governor and replace Anicius with Rufinus. Raise Arcadius at Trimontium. Bring all three northern legions together there. All the stuff I've said are simply put the best way I've optimised my start position for no cost at all. Also adopt Eutychianus and Caesarius. Their character traits listed at the top are best utilised in the family.

    • @HeavyMetalBeliever
      @HeavyMetalBeliever 8 років тому +1

      Anirban Bhattacharya Really? In my Sassanid campaign, Armenia still sides with me when I declare war on the Eastern Roman Empire. Unless the most recent patch has changed it.

    • @anirbanbhattacharya9185
      @anirbanbhattacharya9185 8 років тому +1

      If you do it on turn 1 for example or without cancellin the non-aggression treaty then they most probably will break from you. A lot depends on the starting leader's traits. Also if ERE sucker punches you without cancelling the non-aggression treaty then Armenia sides with you. It really depends if you can steer your most powerful puppet state away from constantly wanting to side with their sweetheart. They have a daughter. Wed her to one of your family members. Make the other guy out to be the bad guy. That's the key

    Honestly, I'm pretty happy with any and all of these campaigns, though I definitely think it's better if your time is focused over no more than two at a time. Regardless, I really appreciate just how transparent and open you're being about your content, so thanks for this, Heir.

      i much rather wait and get a great and fun campaign to watch than now watch a great faction but get a campaign that is not as much fun if you don't wait. i say keep on going with the other ones and when atillla is in better shape play ERE. dont repeat total war 2 with Carthage.

    • @Tanuvein
      @Tanuvein 9 років тому +1

      HeirofCarthage Unless it's the WRE, I'd rather see you start with smaller empires and build up your own. It's not as fun to follow a let's play with an established empire, in my opinion. WRE is the exception because of its higher level of difficulty. I kinda feel like a dick for saying this since clearly you love it, but you asked for our thoughts.
      If you plan on keeping up a steady rotation, I think it would be fun to have one or two from Attila and one or two from older games. The Celt and Medieval games are the ones I'm most interested in, especially since it looks like you don't want to do Empire right now, which is cool.

Ostrogoths requires a lot hours until settle down and i prefer those hours to focus on ebdani or ere. Sassanids was only for beggining... i like all total war multiplayer battles also jonzai campaign. Best regards

    There's a way to basically destroy the visigoths on your first turn. If you move your army in Constantinople to your gold settlement and move your army in north dardania into scupi, the ai will attack your gold settlement (i dunno why, it just does :D). There you can actually win against them because you have a decent army size with 2 cavalry units for flanking/ taking care of archers and onagers. If you can beat them there you can destroy the visigoths on your text turn (I did this on my ERE campaign and it worked, bit of ai stupidity but hey).

    Hey Heir! i personally am very excited to see you playing this campaign as i think it will be a challenge for you. The roman campaigns seem to be the most taxing in terms of resources and for the side of the player their emotional and mental strength as u see things happen that you just have no control over as you try to figure out what territory needs help next and gods help you if your generals start dying and your family thins out.

  • @Ugojglc

    Great campaign too ! Keep going !
    And you do well fighting all the battles, even those you'll lose, because you need to "affaiblir " all your ennemies.
    But even the start is difficult with the romans, then it's not, and it lasts 20/30 turns maximum

    The Fall of Rome is always one of my favourite scenarios to play in games. It's pretty much always the case that the Barbarians are stupidly overpowered, and therefore fun, and the Romans are very challenging but also very doable.

    Concerning your question on Crete. It actually is pretty fertile. It is a relatively common misconception. Modern day techniques have caused some problems but the soil is fairly rich although high in certain minerals due to the salt air and seabird guano that fertilize the island. Mediterranean crops are somewhat more adjusted to a slightly harsher climate than more inland crops. Olives, vines, certain wheat or rye species, dates and various tubers were able to grow quite well in the rocky soil. Also it is important to remember that much of the present day Mediterranean basin is volcanic in origin so you have lots of built up minerals. Random fact day, LOL

    I like the ERE for the fact of the historical fiction you create. Like how in the Macedon campaign, you conquered the West before the East. That was really cool. Long but I think it was worth it.
    I'm still holding prejudice for Rome 2, like the Octavian campaign, so Roman campaigns are really awesome.
    However, it's also cool to see you fight with your back against the ropes. Especially with the ERE.
    So, chalk me down for ERE campaign
    Roma Invicta

    Heir, you should focus on just one campaign, so it would be easier to follow. I think that 30 minutes per episode is optimal, longer are more difficult to watch. I voted for Eastern Rome, France in MTW2 is too easy, you need challange to keep your Let's Play entertaining.

    Hey heir i completed my own ERE campaign and just thought id contribute advice. I tore down all religious buildings early on to rebuild later as the public order penalty is minimal at best early on. I also used large amounts of mercenaries to conquer the the sassanids and their puppets early before they raised too many armies and (inevitably) declar war. This left my eastern, most of my northern, and my southern borders safe and allowed me to focus on events in europe. This way i was able to keep the area safe from desolation (and also italy) until i was ready to invade it and take it for my own. I hope this helps!

    In my experience on ERE Very Hard, you'll be fighting this kind of battles with the garrison very, very often. It's one of the few ways you can really thin the enemy ranks while they sack your towns - your economy won't be able to support enough armies for quite a while.

    I think that total war should have an online campaign, where you start with a low ranked army, and then you go into battles with similar armies and earn points to upgrade your units and armies and be put into like a league where the best armies fight etc. This is just an idea, and someone else has probably said this before.

    Heir Id love to see you do any campaign in Atilla where you try to complete the chapter quests fully. It will move you in a clear plan and will increase in challenge with each chapter.

    Agreed, Sassanids & ERE are the most interesting and most advanced at that time.

    Heir I know this isn't one of the choices, but in the near future I think it would be cool if you did a campaign with lionheart, and a few others like vs on vs

    I would prefer to see you play a few of the more... Unique, total war games such as FoTS or napoleon campaigns with one or two Attila campaigns on the side. Something about attila just doesn't feel right compared to other total wars, it might be the ridiculous snowfall late game or really any of the mechanics which seems a bit half cooked.
    Ultimately more content is what I want though, I could watch you all day heir!...every day! :-D

    Pity you switched to normal difficulty. What i want to see mostly on an ERE campaign, preferably on legendary, is how to handle public order, attrition and disease which i have no doubt will strike very soon and affect on long term probably almost all your armies.

    I think a Norse Campaign would be fun to see. An even more merciless Heir is a funnier Heir.

    +HeirofCarthage You should focus on couple campaigns from different games, like 1 shogun 2 campaign and 1 atilla faction.

    I really liked the Jozai campaign. You never did do the Carthage faction focus from R2.

    Please Heir, make another legendary campaign with East Rome just like you did with West Rome and finish it. I really want to see this.

    Once/If you get the chance you should vassisle all the Sub-Saharan African states. Focus on getting your public order/sanitaiton/food sorted out first. Legios and Comintesis Spears should be enough to carry you for a while. Rely on mercs for cav if needs must.

    I don't usually watch the 30+ min. vids in one go, so longer vids would, at least for me, more easily span the gap between uploads.

    This is the campaign I want to see, there are no good Eastern Roman Empire campaigns up from what I looked at. Seems like something a bit more different.
