    Hi Kait, thank you for a great video. I think my weight loss is hindered due to lack of sleep, I have to care for a loved one and he is up every two hrs so sleeping for 8 hours is out of the question. You can only do the best you can in your situation. I would recommend stopping eating 3-4 hours before you go to bed, if you’re not already. Even if I am having trouble sleeping, if I have eaten far enough away from my bedtime my cortisol is low and my recovery is still good. It sounds like you have taken some good steps already! 🩷

    I recently switched from keto to carnivore over digestive issues. I've been doing carnivore less than a month. I have hashimtos. I stick with a very protein centric diet. I'm getting my carbs from home made yogurt I'm primarily making with heavy cream or half and half that uses cultures like lactobaccilus ruterui, lactobaccilus gasseri, sacchromyicese ballardi, and baccilus coagulans which are important for gut healing. I also get my carbs from milk or occasional processed meat like jerky/meat snacks, spam, etc and some of the cheeses I eat. For example my break fast meal today is a mix of beef kidney amd 73% lean ground beef as a protein bowl, a few oz of 1% milk with ground ginger and ground cinnamon amd some orange extract. The protein bowl was seasoned with a curry powder and light salt. On top of that I'm doing 5 oz of half and half yogurt with 1 tbsp home made whole egg powder and some orange extract, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and stevia. I may be eating pretty much exclusively animal foods at this time but still I find I need some carbs and I never eat them naked. Also the water I use for supplementing electrolytes or making cold brew herbal/green tea I always dilute home made fruit vinegar in it to aid digestion and help glucose spikes. I had my gallbladder removed in a emergency surgery at age 21, I'm 37 now. I know my ability to absorb or process nutrients is impaired and do all I can to fix it so I can be as healthy as possible.

    • @Hertz2laugh
      @Hertz2laugh 8 місяців тому

      Your body makes all the carbs you need.
      And it only makes exactly the amount you need.
      And it only makes it when you need it.
      The process is called "gluconeogenesis."
      Your body converts protein to glucose (carbs) on demand.
      That feeling that you described -- "needing" carbs -- is chemical addiction to sugar.
      If you go truly zero-carb, you'll go through the physical sugar withdrawal symptoms in one or two weeks.
      After that you'll have some psychological withdrawal symptoms for another month or so.
      After that, you'll experience what it's like to actually be totally free from food addictions.
      *Note:* All sweeteners, artificial or otherwise will perpetuate sugar addiction. Yes, even if they are the latest, hottest, zero-carb sweeteners.

    • @missyleonis
      @missyleonis 8 місяців тому +1

      @@Hertz2laugh yeah, I know the mechanics. However while I won't say I don't have a carb addiction, my need for carbs is more than psycosematic. If I don't get some carbs in I actually end up in the hospital from a glucose drop or at least really sick. Like can't hold down water and not able to care for myself level sick. So yeah, I may be a addict but not doing carbs at all I've found unsafe for my specific health needs. You got to remember that humans do have some genetic variation and some may need at least a minor amount of carbs. And honestly I'm doing less than 17g of carbs a day so I'm doing very little. And yes, I know about how the body converts protein into glucose. So while I won't despute you on biology and mechanics of humans as a whole, I'm talking individual genetics variability making the need real even if its a very small amount. So you are right in basic and broad human terms not for my individual psysology. And yes, I know sweeteners perpetuate carb addiction to a degree. I won't say I'm not addicted to sweet flavors because I am. At least I'm not aiming for sweet from a crap ton of gummies and other candy and I respond well to sweetener. It for me doesn't spike glucose though I know for some it can. For me it seems to not be pro insuligenic. But once again I know for others it most certainly is. So I'm not disagreeing with your premace or what you are statingbas general fact because there's no point deputing general factual knowledge that is true in general terms.

    Hi there! Question about protein intake. I worked with a nutritionist via my doctor, and she told me that as a woman around 5'7", in my mid-late twenties, that anything more than 25g of protein per meal would turn into fat on my body... because 'your body can't metabolize more than that at a time and turns it to fat'. Please explain why she was incorrect?

      Fat is stored energy. We store excess energy as fat that we are not using immediately. Energy comes from fat and carbs. Protein has other roles in the body and it is not stored as fat. Here is a great article on why mainstream protein recommendations are too low: www.sacredcow.info/blog/how-much-protein-do-we-really-need Hope that helps 🩷

      Greek yogurt is great for keto! As long as it is unsweetened. If you have been eating less than 1000 calories per day, then unfortunately, yes, your body has probably adapted to the lower intake and is expending less energy as a result. There are so many studies on increased protein needs with aging. Our protein turnover decreases as we get older. Here is one but you can find more on Pubmed.
      "The importance of dietary protein cannot be underestimated in the diets of older adults; inadequate protein intake contributes to a decrease in reserve capacity, increased skin fragility, decreased immune function, poorer healing, and longer recuperation from illness." pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15640517/

    Seems we have others who feel they can critique a video and gives their opinion freely. You are assuming the video was put together in a deceptive manner, and you cannot be sure- it’s an assumption. Why is there a need to call someone out for being deceptive, when you don’t know that’s what is happening. In this media driven world, people will use marketing ideas, just like they did on television for years and years.
    People are trying to find a niche, just like this young lady is. I always used to say- when you’re paying my bills then I will listen to you. No one appointed you the UA-cam police- so stop getting your panties in a bunch. 😊

    30-40 grams of protein per meal doesn't work if you are only eating once or twice a day. Maybe say it should be 90 - 140 grams of protein per day? Are you assuming people are eating 3 times a day on a diet that matches the food pyramid? I happen to be carnivore, age 77, and only eat once or twice a day.

    Been following Dr. Ken Berry and you for over 2 years; and with DETAIL eating of foods each day, exercise every day and only ONE issue struggle with; been averaging 3-4 hours sleep a day since 1967. And all the sleep assist brands DO nothing. Cutting out Caffeine does nothing. Must be something that EVERYONE is missing in the struggle of losing weight. My details; Calories intake average daily for past three years is 1200 and burn over 1400. I did lose 50 pounds, eating 1500 calories and BURNING over 5,000 calories. Note: Fasting 18 hour is nothing more that a starvation diet in disguise. Sometimes window closes to a 4 hour available time to consume calories and that results in an average of only 850 calories a day. This whole industry of losing weight needs a Brain Fog Fart!

    Congratulations on your baptism!
    I agree - read the NT first, and the OT later. You might want to use an audio bible to get through some of the history type OT books easier. Also, many things changed from the OT to the NT, and for that reason, it’s best to know what it is now first, and then you can see what it was before. Its most important to understand the gospel first, and then there is background to add in the OT. The OT shows a lot about God, who he is, what he’s like, etc., so certainly read it after the NT.
    Ask God your questions, and he will send the answers one way or another. He wants a relationship with you, so continue to talk to him about the things that come up and your questions. He knows already, and he’d love you to talk to him about it. He says that several times in the bible, he wants us to seek him, to turn to him, to trust and love him, that is a relationship that he is wanting with us. When you are baptized, you are given a measure of the Holy Spirit, so he is in you, he is with you all the time. In the OT, they had to go to the temple and interact with God through the priest, but Jesus is our priest, and we have direct access anytime, he is always with us.
    I’m proud of you for getting rid of the crystals, that shows your true commitment. The adversary does not want to lose his grip on anyone, so he will try to get you back, just keep telling him to go away in Jesus’ name, tell him you reject him and his ways. I say it three times, because that is what God does when he really means something, so I do too. If you are in God’s hand, no one can snatch you out of it, but they can temp you to jump out, so just hang tough! You’re doing all the right things, you’re doing great! We are all sinners, all unworthy, no one is deserving on his own, we all need to know Jesus is our redeemer, he is the door, he is the way. If we think we are deserving, well that was how the adversary became the adversary, so don’t go there! - Pat.

    Not many people can afford smoked salmon or avocados for breakfast. Most people like myself eat cereal. I don’t think all carbs are created equally either. Whole meal & weetabix for example are good for your body as they contain a lot of fibre, which also keeps you full. I eat 3 weetabix every morning. It keeps me full for 4hrs. I’m not hungry til lunchtime and don’t need to snack on anything.

      Test your blood sugar after eating those cereals. The carbs they contain are still broken down into glucose and require a lot of insulin to process. If this breakfast works for you, that’s great! But if you are watching this video because your metabolic health could be better… than that’s something to consider. I have a full video on why cereal is not a good breakfast option ua-cam.com/video/V_rH_seVVX0/v-deo.htmlsi=uP8tClGab-O4WaeL

    Why is the woman on the left of your video thumbnail 20-30 years older than the young, tight, tall model on right? That is very deceptive to suggest these are before and after photos. Maybe if that model was a time traveler, sure. I have zero desire to watch this video because of the deception you are feeding your watchers.This is not an isolated occurrence in your thumbnails.
