What's the Difference Between Wye and Delta? Current and Voltage Relationships Explained

- This video compares Wye and Delta 3-Phase Circuits. These basic fundamental rules apply whether you're looking at sources or loads.
Understanding these basic Voltage and Current relationships is crucial to understanding 3-Phase Electrical Theory.
For all my Wye videos: • 3-Phase Wye Connections
For all my Delta videos: • 3-Phase Delta Connections
For all my Wye/Delta Videos: • 3-Phase Delta Wye

Slight mistake at 2:32 you say voltage is 240 on the line. But you explanation is 120*sqrt(3)=208.
Thank you Pablo. You are a man of the people
Love it man! Keep it up
Excellent Educational Video!
Great video. Explanation was very clear
Best video i found for quick differences
Thank you very much for the great explanation.
Very very useful video and explanation
Good job 👍
nice explanation Mr. Zack!
Glad you liked it!
Mr.zack you are the fucking man !! Explaining what our journeymen never taught us ! .. doing God's work brother 🙏
Dude, excellent video! I was following you really well halfway but then I got super distracted because I realized you were writing, backwards and then my mind went to some really weird places and then I got super confused on how you were writing backwards and was this video being mirrored I got completely lost!
Think about it. What is he writing on? Something transparent. What does writing look like from the other side? Backwards. What does mirroring the video do? Puts things that are backwards right side forward. This technique is not unique to this guy and notice he is apparently using his left hand to write? Almost all people who make videos like this appear to be left handed, even though they are not.
@@davidchavez81 Clear explanation.
😂 same here....i think i liked it better before i read the helpful explanation.
I should have never read this comment because it just distracted the hell out of me.
It's just fancy camera trick. I'm a regular right-handed person with no skill writing backwards/
Cool dea!; Thanks 👍 for that explanation
When you were explaining the wye system you said the phase voltage would be 120 and your like voltage would be 240 but wouldn’t that actually be 208 not 240?
Definitely! Oops
Caught that real quick.
How do I know in a certain 3phase load to be use as secondary supply is delta or wye connection ?
Secondary will be wye
Please help me understand better. with bldc motor
I read it on internet
Wye 1.7X less KV as Delta.
Delta 1.7X higher top-speed than wye, more current than WYE at all RPMs.
I assum delta config draws 3A, and Wye also draws 3A, then will Wye give higher Rpm than Delta?
Or both configurations have the same rpm, which one will draw more amps?
Hi, zack was wondering if you offer any one on one video classes.. my husband is interested if you could plz let me know asap! Thank you!
Sorry, no.
But if there's topics you think would make good videos, let me know
A lot of information to sink in.
120v wye connected system would be 208v line to line & 120v line to neutral/ground if the system was grounded.
Yes
V leads by 30 deg..........A lags by 30 deg. are they the same ?
Please explain why we have square root of 3
You have 3 phases
It’s the phase times 1.732 that gives us the line voltage in a wye system, 120 x 1.732 = 208. Sqrt 3 is a necessary constant for 3 phase power.
Is this for inductors or resistors? Sorry not familiar with US standards for drawing
Inductors. Resistors are zigzag lines.
This is inductors indicating the source. Windings of an alternator or secondary of transformer
@@ZackHartle Thank you!
120 volts and 208 volts on the wye.
Are you writing backwards the whole time?
Just fancy camera tricks!
Hes writing with the screen in between him and the camera and since that would be reversed, he would then mirror the video in editing.
No one cared. There blackouts begin.
In what application would you want to use delta connection over a wye connection, and vise versa 🤔??
Elevators
Talk aboat????
