(this song is in drop G) If your 7 string is in drop G you have an extra high string. Only standard tuning gives you the extra low B string. Regular drop G is GDGCFA on a 6 string. With a 7 string, it's GDGCFAD. Extra high D. It's basically D standard with drop G mixed in if not a little different if i'm not mistaken. The higher notes might be different, but you get what i mean.
He has a 24 fret guitar so he has enough range on his fretboard to hit notes that high. Plus it's a 7 string, so his last string is tuned higher than normal.
@Justyn Bomar lee cant even play XIV/Behold or else they would play it live, jason wrote that entire song by himself, and now since hes no longer a member of Born of Osiris i dont think they will ever play it live, not a great song choice to use as an example
bro ive been playing for close to 9 years now, i understand where u are coming from. there is only a select few deathcore bands with decent guitar, but when it comes to born of osiris and veil of maya and after the burial its a different story
Every concert I've ever been to in texas (where I live), goes absolutely crazy for any band, so I find it weird that no body in the crowd really moves, for a fucking EPIC band like BOO...
@skycaptain141 I agree whole heartedly. All I have been hearing is " Jason cannot replace Tosin" ... forget that shit. He brings a style of his own and can shred his ass off. stoked on these guys ,
Hey im thinking about going to a BOO concert and the tickets are 20 dollars. How do you decide where you stand? Like if you stand in the front or the back or middle area or what? Plz respond
For the record, the bassist has always been doing those things live. Ever since The New Reign which released before Attack Attack's EP and therefore older than "crabcore".
the seven string has nohing to do with it, as the only difference with a 7 compared to a 6 is the low B string. a 24 fret fretboard is his answer with tons of delay and effects backing it. its not uptuned at all, the original 6 are in standard anyway
@TheEndmills Listen to their whole new album if you thing he's so useless. His keyboard playing brings a ton of atmosphere to the songs, and he does a lot of the vocal work.
Back always has more clearer sound, You hear way better, Front is more fuzzy bout sounds amazing and is more exhilaration, middle your bound to get his by scene kids aha.
when i met the band dave was like the only super chill one there...besides cam. and sam applebaum! my boy...lol he was the only one with bud to match..
oh you're one of the old school metal guys.i won't hate, those guys are pretty good and metal legends.if you would've told me BoO didn't compare to like justin bieber then I'd be mad.I listen to all kinds of metal, just gotta have an ear for it i guess.but listen man, don't say these guys suck,I'm sure some people think sabbath sucks,it just depends on your taste
Agreed. Comparing progressive musicians to them is unfair. Mustaine and Iommi were both visionaries and great guitarists for their time though. You can't take that away from them.
not sure what you guys are talking about when you say unnatural stage presence. these guys are clearly enjoying the music they make and are getting down with it. so what if it resembles crabcore a bit, if you ask me it's wayy more unique. so much more passion.
They can deliver a pretty dead-on performance and still rock it on stage. What's the problem? I'm all for musicianship first, but just because you're a great player it doesn't mean you should stand frozen like an idol on stage. If you can play WELL and headbang at the same time, by all means....
So what if its all metal playing? Metal has a billion ways to be played, and the way both bands play are completely different.... Dave and Tony both have came up with different ways to play songs and have released more albums with versatility using THEIR way of playing, Jason and Lee would be able to play it but to pull it off like they would isn't possible.
I definitely agree that Born Of Osiris are one of the most talented deathcore bands out there. But when it comes to the genre and you describing it as 'not a really talented genre' Talent isn't the main factor. Musical taste is what it boils down to when people listen to a band and if they like them or not.
well i wasent hating on born of osiris guitar skills there acctually really good at guitar i was hatein on the deathcore bands who dont even remotly show any skill at guitar at all it makes me sad
The guitarists in this band would have looked up to Dave Mustaine and Toni Lommi, if not, the guitarists they look up did, if there was no Megadeth or Black Sabbath there wouldn't be metal music in general.
If this is how they get down, then let it be. Would you rather them skip to their loo up and down the stage? Alesana, to my knowledge which is like 8 or 9 of their shows spanning from '07 till now, don't headbang anything like this. Hell, they rarely headbang. On another note, I've always enjoyed Alesana, lyrically for the most part, their drums, and Denny's vocals. One more thing, plenty of crazy talented bands have played Warped. Tempt me and I'll hunt 'em down and list them for you.
@ThrashIsBack123 It's not that hard if you are a bassist. And getting stoned doesn't guarantee you a failed performance. If you play good you'll still play good.
I could watch this over and over. I so wish I was at this show!!
awesome quality dude! Best so far.
They sound spot on live.
Awesome video, awesome band, awesome song, congratulations for the video
They sound so amazing
i love davids creapy pressence......i started playing like him...bass forever
Lee is such a badass.
Worst decision they made was to let go of Jason. (Even though Lee primarily wrote this one)
Watched this like 100 times! Love the harmony at 1:31
It's the coolest part of the song!!
Such an awesome response. Faith in youtubers restored. For the next 5 minutes i guess...
This is the best band from our metal age.
is it just me or is this show is really quiet ?
very nice recording!
This video quality is fucking amazing dude!! Fucking love this song
great band
@TheEndmills no he does backing vocals and sometimes plays keyboard during songs

These guys have incredible stage presence
Damn, this is live? TIght and good sounding. And love the moves from the bassist haha.
they translate this song so fucking amazingly live. Just like the album
this is such a well written song
Oh I love BoO so much, I would kill to see them live
I heard about them and wanted to check them out. I wish I hadn't.
He has a 24 fret guitar so he has enough range on his fretboard to hit notes that high. Plus it's a 7 string, so his last string is tuned higher than normal.
everybody quit fuckin arguing and just do what you got on here to do listen to this fuckin great band
❤

@CorporalSalty: no killswitch, I think it's just flutters on the trem and the picking pattern
Every concert I've ever been to in texas (where I live), goes absolutely crazy for any band, so I find it weird that no body in the crowd really moves, for a fucking EPIC band like BOO...
I want that bass....
Is that crowd kidding? Let's explode!
This band is so f**ing good.
Yeah i know.. but what does he do with his right hand? I just learnt the solo, but i still cant get what he did there haha
i've watched this video on three different occasions now and I still laugh at your response.
@skycaptain141 I agree whole heartedly. All I have been hearing is " Jason cannot replace Tosin" ... forget that shit. He brings a style of his own and can shred his ass off. stoked on these guys ,

Fuck this sounds fucking am amazing for a live performance!!!!!
In ways they're better than each other, Tomi and Dave have come up with insane riffs, its a completely different way of playing....
Wtf does he do to hes guitar to do that high note at 0:46 and 0:34?
Never seen that before i think..
that jpx7!!!!!!!!! oh well il get mine this month :D
Is this realy "live"? The execution is perfect as in the record. If it so, congrats!
man, they sound liek the album live. nom
its still hard as fuck to nail crazy fast polyrythms on THE LOW E STRING
Too fucking beast!!!
thats EXACTLY why it makes sense...he, like many great musicians, smoke the greatest herb on the planet.
on my hard drive
Could you not upload any others please? =(
@MiKill93 HAHAHHAHA LMFAO!!!!! That shit made me spit my drink on the screen hahaha
yea that is true dude
For the record, the bassist has always been doing those things live. Ever since The New Reign which released before Attack Attack's EP and therefore older than "crabcore".

@TheEndmills Listen to their whole new album if you thing he's so useless. His keyboard playing brings a ton of atmosphere to the songs, and he does a lot of the vocal work.
Their bassist im actually musician compared to most metal bassists. He's always on time and has some sick licks on the record.
yes petrucci sig guitar !!! fellow DT fans !!!! same as human abstract... going to see BOO JUN 20 excited
This song is probably one of the best new songs I've heard in a while, especially with all the generic sounding metal coming out lately
watch their cribs video. also yeah. he is SMACKED.
Fuckin sick.
Ala vrg..tocan bn perro esos tipos :)

I'll never understand how the bassist gets that low in those jeans without tearing his legs apart...
oh you're one of the old school metal guys.i won't hate, those guys are pretty good and metal legends.if you would've told me BoO didn't compare to like justin bieber then I'd be mad.I listen to all kinds of metal, just gotta have an ear for it i guess.but listen man, don't say these guys suck,I'm sure some people think sabbath sucks,it just depends on your taste

Not really, it's almost always over a simple 4/4 pulse.
2:56 is... the best thing...
Agreed. Comparing progressive musicians to them is unfair. Mustaine and Iommi were both visionaries and great guitarists for their time though. You can't take that away from them.

2 people have obviously never seen how badly most of the other bands play live
touche
fuck these guy's are unique
I hear ya. I think it's pretty sick and I'm not even into 5 stringed basses
So what if its all metal playing? Metal has a billion ways to be played, and the way both bands play are completely different....

well i wasent hating on born of osiris guitar skills there acctually really good at guitar i was hatein on the deathcore bands who dont even remotly show any skill at guitar at all it makes me sad
@metallica5044 this is coming from the guy who likes metallica
The guitarists in this band would have looked up to Dave Mustaine and Toni Lommi, if not, the guitarists they look up did, if there was no Megadeth or Black Sabbath there wouldn't be metal music in general.
Good thing those are polymeters then. ;)
I'm surprised the bassist doesn't slam his forehead on the floor
