You know Tim there's a lot of drivers out there that have never experienced driving a truck like that like you said it comes with responsibilities man I've drove trucks like that my whole life up until my accident... I could never drive a truck that won't do over 70 mph and you can't get out of your own damn way.. you got an old soul my good brother that's for sure..💯🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾😎👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾

Young man, 1st off, I have to agree with "ktheredfrog" in that you need to make yourself a "hatcam" to free your hands up while videoing. 2nd, I respect the way you're raising your son.....he will be far ahead of other kids his age as he grows. 3rd, I came here form "NUMBNUTS" channel (Bruce) and I have to say that I like your style....WHY?....Because I'm a "70 year young Kentucky Hillbilly"!!!!!! Waiting for your next video so that I can sit back with some "shine" and unwind!!!!!!

@Truckin 101 i wasn't gonna say it but Bruce is a NUMBNUTS sums it up best, best thing he did for the air force truck was sell it. the work that has been accomplished on it since it has been here is what we all needed to see and what that truck deserves.

I do those exhaust manifolds regularly. Take off the gear box and you can access it. Use torch to remove nuts, then heat the studs up a little. Use a pair of vise grips and they will come right out.

A cabover! A rare breed on the road these days. I started out in a 1987 Freightliner single axle regular sleeper cabover. Drove that thing from NJ to Jacksonville Fla, to Harrisburg PA and home to NJ every week for six years. Pulled doubles for then Roadway Package System aka FedEx ground now. My boss back then had four trucks signed on with them. Fastest trucks he had were a 1992 Frieghtliner conventional 425 Cat and a Mack MH cabover with the E-9 500hp motor. I was the low man so I got the shytbox 310 Cat spring ride.

I worked for a company that delivered food to Wendy's, Texas Roadhouse and such at night. We finished in Alabama and turned the reefer on and headed to Forest Park, GA to load frozen chicken breast for a backhaul and got there and the trailer was 70°😂😫 compressor died. Ended swapping trailers at another one of our yards in GA

I just had a Fitzgerald glider come through for ecm issues on a series 60 last week, they break down too. That’s the fuel shutoff solenoid on ur reefer bud, not high idle. I work for a Freightliner, and we are the only TK dealer in our state. Is urs an sb230?

    • @andyfederman
      @andyfederman 4 роки тому +1

Oh I see it’s a Carrier. That’s not a high idle, it’s just throttling up as a load gets applied.

D Smith he is the VP of the Company. The President cried when he was told my trailer had a brake job done, around $1300 parts and labor. New drums, shoes, seals etc. President said find a cheaper shop, VP said he has the cheapest one around, me and I only charged 4 hours including picking up parts. I am retired as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic driving part time for play money. Now the VP told me the brake job just jumped to $2300, President should stop crying.

I would get $1000 bonus at Christmas and thru the year he said if I needed to get my rest stop and get a room on him. Told him I sleep better in truck unless get sick. I took care of his equipment like it was mine. Got my own loads scheduled all service on truck. Last year I worked for him my bonus was $2000. He said never had to worry about me only trouble was is I didn’t call him enough. Told him as long as wasn’t any trouble no need to talk to him. If he didn’t hear from me I was working! Loved that job and that boss!

Couple things to consider. On the carrier refer, be sure you are cleaning the inlet screen at the primer pump when you do a service. It didn't look like the fittings were wet so I don't believe it was done. That screen is the first filter point for the fuel from the tank and it will shut down when plugged up with large debris. Don't lose the copper washers on either side of it either. Pull the bolt, unscrew the screen from the bolt and clean it out. Check line for debris stuck in it. Also, watch that gearbox for leaks that the belts hook to. There isn't much gear oil in them to start with and they burn up bearings quick. They have a vent that needs to be clear. That box looked kinda wet, hard to tell. The trailer behind the Freightliner has the right mid turn signal out and there are some lower rail rivets missing the heads. When the heads break off it loads the others up and breaks them faster. Keep it up, it never ends.

Jack of all trades.. Dang right fixing the broken things before the chrome add ons. Had a good chuckle. Keep the shinny side up and the greasy side down. Keep the 18 wheels a rolling and I'll catch ya on the flip side. 10-10 on the side.

You ever run i80 between the i81 split and i99, you have probably gotten your paint peeled off by a black 389.Porosky Lumber on the doors, 917 crank horsepower, no DPF, no bullshit, just an ISX built with all the PDI goodies and tuned by Diesel Freak.

Fun,fun, fun, out on the road! 😳 I’ve never been inside a reefer unit...Thanks for the insight! I just bought an old reefer trailer, now I need to pick it up. Southern Ohio! 😳 Duct tape is your friend! 🧐 What are the additional switches on your stick? Lights, O/D? I’m with ya...gotta carry enough tools to do a variety of repairs on your truck and trailer. Do you carry a long airline and impact for changing tires? 🧐 What a difference that can make on a long trip! 🤩 I do like the new lights...they make enough difference on the front of that Pete! 🤩 That hill coming up out of Cincinnati is quite a big one...better now than what it used to be. It’s a beautiful town at night, but don’t get off the wrong exit. I lived there a few years and enjoyed driving around taking in the sights! Lots of HISTORY...especially underground! 😎 You gotta know when to use that power...even RESPECT the power! 😎 Hehehe! Good stuff! But you got my attention even more when you wouldn’t share your truck weight! hmmm! 🧐

That's pretty damn smart keeping a mechanic with another driver separate trucks there's too many drivers that will set at the Petro the TA it don't matter to get a damn light put in they won't do a damn thing and I guarantee you there ain't nobody like that working for you they cost you money if you can't put a turbo on the side of the road you don't need to be driving truck you do all you can to help your boss out that's how you get bonuses and shit. I worked for a guy 7 years quit went back and he pretty much runs like you do man older trucks you rock my brother keep on keeping on 💯🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾😎👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Good stuff, I appreciated that. I could stand to watch more reality. Yeah, it makes me homesick for the road sometimes, but it also brings back lots of good memories.
It makes me curious as to what all has changed, and what has stayed the same.

Gotta have faith in ya drivers!!!! I run a 06 Pete 379 with a 6-1/4 CAT 18spd backed with 336 rears pushing 750HP and 3k lbs of torque and I never run hot!!! Granted I run my fan full time when it’s warm out and when I get to 195/200 going up a hill I flip the switch before it comes on automatically. And it’s a company truck. But I care I don’t want my boss laying out $25-$30k for an inframe!!! And I also would have to drive something else until mine comes back which for me is a huge no no!!! Hate jumping seats and driving something I ain’t comfortable in or someone else’s truck. Love the content though keep it up bud

Question for you. This wood grain cabinets you have on the back wall of the sleeper, is that aftermarket? I have the standard 379 side cabinets in the sleeper and storage space is is a problem for me. I’m looking to get something like what you got. Can you tell me if you got them somewhere or are they original

Not going to argue about, but oil temp needs to get above 212 degrees consistently to boil off water so the oil can do its job. New oil can handle lot higher temperatures than 20 years ago. Lots of new cars run 230 to 250 all the time.
