This is an interview with Francis Rossi and Richie Melone of Status Quo. It is mainly about the "Backbone" - album. It will be released on 06 September 2019.
@bomber command The current line up has evolved from earlier line ups. Andy has been in the band since 1976. Rhino has been in the band longer than Alan Lancaster. This is what Quo is now. If you don't like it - I understand (I love the old stuff too). But this is the band now and I like what they are producing.
It doesn't matter whose in status quo they will always be top of the pops for me it's tragic that Ricky died he's missed terribly but in death his spirit will always be with the band, the band is great and it needs alot more respect than it's getting They have been going a longtime , they will rock till they drop bless them all keep on Rocking 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Great that the band continues, Why not? It’s about making music All the music from the past is still there from Quo. Francis likes to make music and we are 50 years later. In 50 year happens a lot in our lives.. Also with Quo The seventies are more than 50 years over now Quo fans are funny people
When Rossi say's "when Rick was being taken away in the ambulance, going thru the hotel people was drinking at the bar and life went on"! Well yeah of course life goes on for most because they didn't know who Rick Parfitt was. When some I know dies whether it's a friend or relative, I don't expect the whole world to stop and pay their respects because most of the world didn't know the person. The dedicated fans felt like we knew Rick that's why we mourned for him and still do to this day. Sure life goes on but that's how much of an impact Rick made on most of the fans.
Some negative comments here..... these are the young johnny boys who grew up listening to rap crap or death metal morons. Im 63, a fan since Ma Kelly's Greasey Spoon and i find something wonderful, interesting or just amusing in every Quo album, always will. It's only rock n roll..... but i love it! Rick will come back soon...... God will kick him out. Love ya licks Ritchie.... rock on.
WHO DOES FRANCIS ROSSI THINK HE IS KIDDING HE SPOKE ILL OF RICK EARLY ON THEN DECIDED TO MAKE AMENDS ,THE NEW STATUS QUO SINCE RICK DEATH IS THE FRANCIS ROSSI SHOW .......AND THE SOUND FOR SOME REASON DOES NOT FEEL RIGHT .........BUT I SUPPOSE THAT IS PROGRESS.......
@@clairemarkham3485 well that may be so but you do not talk ill of the dead and after all the years together i am afraid i am not impressed at all and don`t listen to any new stuff since rick passed.....
@@leesloan8216 I was thinking that they perhaps should drop Ricks songs because Rhino isnt much of a singer and neither is Andy even though he wrote a lot of those songs with Rick. If they did drop the songs the fans would probably just be calling for them to be played. We're a fickle bunch us fans.
I wish he would just change the name to The Francis Rossi Band and move on. I've followed Quo since Matchstick men...Parfitt was the heart and soul of Quo. He was Quo. When we losy Parfitt, we lost Quo.
I totally agree with you, Rick and Alan were the heart of the band, i told Rick several years ago he was being turned down so much in the mix out front that all you heard was the keyboards, it was only with the Frantic four that it was business as usual, shame on Rossi, if he is such a perfectionist why pack the set with medleys ??
Indeed, this band is a joke, how dares he call this band Status Quo !!! Status What ????? Don't go to any Status What concert, it's an insult to Rick, John and Alan !!!
Who dares call this a joke? You forget that Rossi invented this band... And Rick was really into this continuing with Richie Malone.. You are probably not even a fan, when you don't know that fact. Please go back to 1983 and stay there. This band has moved on and I suggest you should do the same.
"An insult to Rick, John and Alan" - WHAT???? John Coghlan and Alan Lancaster walked away from the band (and are still bloody sulking that Quo are successful) you pillock! Move along now..........
Francis owns the name Status Quo, he started the band before he'd even met Rick, I don't see you whinging about John coghlans Quo, or the fact that jess javorski left or Roy lynes left, John Walked away, he was not thrown out, Alan had had enough of working with the band and they all split in '84', it was the record company that insisted on another album contractually, so reluctantly Francis went back into the studio, Rick brought in Jeff and Rhino, not Francis.
This is NOT Status Quo but Francis Rossi and the latest recruit to his tribute cabaret act. Sad to see this and also sick to watch some one who thinks he is Rick, mimicked him for years as a fan and is now on stage and in interviews following his mannerisms and stage moves. Surreal! Thankfully he cannot get his hands on Ricks famous tele. Do people really want this masquerade?
Never ceases to amaze me that folks who no longer like the band as it is still apparently follow them, only to carp and whinge and complain. If you don't like them, leave them alone and find some other band to follow. Oh - and get a life ...
Martha, are you a troll? Have you ever heard the bands latest song from the new album or seen thenm on stage recently..? Quo has moved on (with Rick's approval of Richie as a replacement, NOT a copy!) and has made a new beginning with this line up, and i'm so very happy to see it. And Francis is worth it. Period.
Great band!I've followed Quo since the '60s. This line up is still Quo! Long live Status Quo!!!

Rossi Is just a guy who wants to play music. His band is Status Quo, he shouldn't have to explain himself. No fucking problem
Exact¡ well said ¡¡¡ Francis hasn' t to
Say or to do....He Sings and Plays his guitar. Excellent¡¡¡¡..live QUO¡¡¡¡

The best band ever and can’t wait for the new album
Thanks for posting this interview. It shows that the band is still going strong!
Excellent interview. I had a great pleasure to watch it. Thank you very much
Great that the band continues,
Why not?
It’s about making music
All the music from the past is still there from Quo.
Francis likes to make music and we are 50 years later.
In 50 year happens a lot in our lives..
Also with Quo
The seventies are more than 50 years over now
Quo fans are funny people
@bomber command actually 1965 when they became Status Quo
Nice to see Richie Malone in this interview, great stuff.

STATUS QUO .........
della nostra generazione

Interesting!
P. P. S Good interview asked good questions.
On the album, imo there are 5 good tracks 6 of em are average!
Even though it was awkward, I think I'll come see you soon
They should have called it a day years ago!
When Rossi say's "when Rick was being taken away in the ambulance, going thru the hotel people was drinking at the bar and life went on"!

I've been a fan since 78 and have struggled with the line up since Rick's departure. I think I'll go and see them again after this actually...
This is NOT my Quo,but fair play to Rossi he talks straight without any qualms about his opinions
No Rick, No QUO
Try folding your arms.....
No Rick Parfitt….. No Quo
This interviewer is getting on my nerves for some reason.
For what reasons do you dislike my kind of interviewing? I am open for your criticism!
@@TELE6220 Thank You!
Not Quo any more.

WELL STOP PERFORMING YOUR PAST HITS THEN.
FOCUS ON THE NOW.
They're mainly Rossi's songs.................
@@iogier no there not,
I think Francis would play more newer songs, but the fans crave the older songs, and so they play them.

Here goes Martha again (and again!). Obviously has FAR too much time on her hands....
Seems you search UA-cam for every interview about the upcoming album just to complain. Stop being a masochist and get a life!
