Clean the tiles with vinegar! The spots are calcium, it will dissolve in vinegar or anything acid. Please don't use the iron brushes, they will damage the coating on your tiles. Also, for a next project, don't wait to long. You can start cleaning one hour after grouting your tiles. Love your projects btw, many respect for you just trying it all out. I work the same, have built many projects by just trying and educating myself using UA-cam videos :)

Maya, you should try to mix vinegar with warm water which will help with the grout haze. I also used to dry them with a clean cloth right away to avoid staining from the water which will get murky after a while.
Maya jour drains will even look much better if you use a couple of 45° piece to line them out straigth against the wall. The last roof being angle in the wrong direction down you can follow the roof line and just make the drain on the other side and feed it back underground or covering it up.. Making them straigth against the wall really will make you happy because it will look like a pro job making it visually look even more beautiful..
Such good progress this week Maya … getting the gutters up … protecting the wood, installing the gas boiler, sealing the ridge tiles and then the back breaking job of cleaning off the tile grout …. Your tiling has made such a difference Maya.. and so your home continues to show your constant progress … so very happy for you 😁😁 Durban SA 🇿🇦
The gutters look great, managing water is the never ending task of home ownership. I watched in horror as you left the grout on the tiles to dry. My last (and really only) tile project I was a bit too casual getting the grout off the tiles quickly, and spent hours scrubbing to get it off. Maybe some sort of acid solution could clean it off?
Hello Maya, your 🏠 is getting more beautiful every day (just a suggestion). You can collect some stones in your region and glue them to the back wall of your house. In addition to helping to waterproof the wall, it would also give it a charming rustic look ❤🇵🇹
Run the upper root downspout straight into the lower roof gutter. Offset the lower roof downspout to align better with the in-ground connection. Start earlier, use a bigger sponge, change the water often, when wiping the excess tile grouting. For the upper driveway drain: dig a deeper trench as trucks drive over, lay a french drain perforated pipe, wrap a protective layer over the pipe and cover with gravel, refill trench and compact.
Im wondering if you get any kind of decent rain it will just overshoot the guttering. Storm guttering might be better. A french drain at the top of your driveway would help a lot😊
On that one downspout on the roof, if the velocity of water is fast enough coming out, it could shoot water underneath of your roof tile. You're definitely a hard worker and proud of all you do.
Hello Maya, I am in Minnesota US I have been watching your channel for a long time now I do not comment often. I am so proud of you for all you are doing and learning. You do not spare any effort to ensure you are doing the best job possible. I love all the thoughtfulness of preparation to use the best methods of creating and building each step of the projects. Your channel is the first one I watch every Sunday morning with my coffee. Thank you so much for having something for me to look forward to. Our planet is in such turmoil with some many bad situations of human conditions all the positivity and hope I see in your videos does reinforce that their is still so much love and hope in the world. Peace and blessings for you and your future projects, Steven
I was looking into trenches and found someone who did it with a pipe with drilled holes at top and side. The pipe then was wrapped in the following layers: gravel and around that some qater permeable fabric for that purpose. So when the water goes into the trench it permeates through the earth first, then through the fabric, then through the stine drainage and through the drilled holes into the the pipe. Can also be used to direct water away from houses. Your experiences in building will be priceless and useful for a lifetime!
We were in the algarve first two weeks of October. Never ever saw rain in Portugal before (been there more than 10 times), but we got absolutely drenched for the last three days of our trip. The garden erupted in beautiful green colours even that late in the summer. One of the locals told me “It doesn’t rain often, but when it does you know about it!”..
Hi Maya, when I learned how to tile in my house, the tiler said I shout wipe of the grout with old wads/balls of old newspaper as soon as it started to dry on the tiles (and be careful with the joints that were still wet) . That worked really well!!
Well done young lady, all your hard work is paying off because you got off your arse and did it, magnificently. You have my unstinting admiration. love from uk
Cutters look good and glad working so good. Can clean tiles not long after grout done so makes cleaning easier. Rooms do look so much better being tiled so well done.
So amazing to see how big and bright that is now! A massive change from lifting the stone floor in a dark and damp void under your main house floor! Truly amazing, well done x
Maya, you are doing such a great job. Well done for tackling everything. It will be so beautiful when its finished. Just like you. Thank you for sharing.
Wonder if you could put a barrel under the outlet guttering to capture some of that gorgeous rainwater for use in the house. Drinking and washing hair and clothes is amazing with rainwater.

Hi Maya, I have much admiration for your hardworking and living spirit. I am from South Africa and wush I could also go "offgrid". Have you perhaps considered to get a water tank to catch all the rain water?

Maya, I did tile floors many years ago and the thing I learned was to only grout as much as you can wipe up in 15 minutes, so you grout a little it before it dries and then go on, but don't let the grout dry on the tiles
Looking great! I just finished my cabin bathroom and I also fitted a gas water system like you. I didn't realise you can run underfloor heating from them as well. That is a great way to heat the space. Its going to be beautiful. 🎉
So happy for you! The first fire. There is a product called grout release for grout stuck to the tiles. I hope you get it all off. What a rewaarding project you have.
Thank you Maya! I am so happy that you are going to be very comfortable this winter. You have worked very hard and your results are amazing. As you are grouting tiles, keep a wet spumge and buctet of clean water handy. Wipe up the grout while it's still wet.

Use vinegar or lemon juice instead of metal sponge to dissolve the grouting from the tiles' surfaces.
